5100 miles on the car. took a road trip yesterday and now I hear the crickets for the first time. Pulled up to a drive through for some road food. Damn that noise is embarrasing. It almost sounds like a loose drive belt. .

After 6700 miles I can now report that I have an intermittant chirp from the hpfp. Looks like I'll be scheduling with my service department in the morning.

If anyone is curious I bought my car in late October of last year as a 2014 model, not sure if it has the newest pump or not from the factory.

An interesting observation - I was desperate for a fuel top up so I went close by & put about 15L of Caltex 98 Octane fuel - 25 minutes later I pulled up into my garage & noticed the crickets ! The car had warmed up & when the idle dropped to normal the chirp/crickets chimmed in . . . . :/

It's running a mix of Caltex / Shell VPower atm, when it's all used up to the last drop I will re-fill with VPower as I usually do & see what happens, up until now the crickets never showed up on VPower.

I was pulling into the garage at work this morning COMING from the dealer where I had some a window clunking sound successfully addressed ... when suddenly a wild cricket appears!

Thought maybe I dodged them. Coincidence that before the 20 mile drive to work I just filled up on my way in on 93 from Shell?

I have this problem and thought it was alternator bearings and had the alternator replaced under warranty

Also noticed my Crank vibrates from side to side. Figured since its a boxer it might be normal.

I had the crickets from 300 miles on. At 800 miles I put 3 oz of Lucas 2T 2-stroke oil in a full tank, crickets are gone. I am now running AMSoil 2 stroke oil and the crickets are yet again, completely gone. Not even a hint of noise.

I'll update if that changes but at an extra $2.00 per fuel fill-up, I'm satisfied.

I've had the crickets since ~1500miles

Very annoying sound, but I see no point to schedule an appointment with my dealer since there is no permanent fix.

Wonder what Toyota is doing?

If your crankshaft is wobbling it's a miracle it hasn't exploded.

I assume you mean the idler pulley which is normal to have wobble:

Hess gas keeps them at bay. I've noticed the sound comes and goes. And realized when I fill up with Hess the sound is never there.
