Water insulation
Hello everyone, I just recently install a reverse camera in my frs, and I ran into a bit of a problem. The wires don't fit in the rubber insulator that holds the wires to the trunk, so I routed the wires beside it. Now the rubber insulator doesn't fit back into the hole, and I'm scared water is going to see people inside. I've been thinking about shoving it back into the hole, taping it, and spraying plasti dip on it to keep the water out. Any suggestion on how to do it better?

I would just use some tube silicon to seal it all up.

3m Window weld or Permatex Marine Silicone Adhesive works really well for this kind of application as well

I'm watching the news at the moment. Attempting to multitask.
And now that I think of it. Bodyshops/Painters don't like us to use Silicone...they'd rather we use Urethane. Maybe a painter could chime in and explain the details ? I do know that windshields are attached with Urethane. For some reason Silicone interferes with new paint application. Not sure if Silicone also may also promote rust on bare metal ?? Edit: For Tcoat...I'm way older than you, also don't even work since 2007. And the outside temp, earlier today 71 degrees F, now 48 degrees F. It's rough here in Cali. And I've still gotta cook tonight on the grille outdoors. Retirement is so difficult ! Last edited by ToySub1946; 02-17-2016 at 09:53 PM. |

First, are you sure the wires won't fit in the rubber pass-through tube? In my installation, it was tricky to get through, but I managed to shove them through by feeding a wire clothes hanger through that had a shoelace taped to the end, and in turn taping the wire to the shoelace. Did that twice for two wires, and then again to route it through some body panels.
I'd give that a shot before hacking together a solution that might make it much more difficult to work with in the future. |

No. Just get a sharp blade and trim it out. Easy
