Love the car. My only issue is the bumper not popping back on right after removal and the panels are flimsy so it gets dented up easily. I guess that's how they make it so light anyways, lol.

Agreed! Difficult to find a car quite like it within its price range...

Meet modern day emissions regs and fuel economy standards, while being financially viable to develop and manufacture as a one-off engine like the F20 was? I'm highly doubtful Honda could pull that off. Prove me wrong Honda!

The BRZ is an awesome car. Drives like it's on rails and is ridiculous amounts of fun to drive. The gas mileage is excellent. However there were issues that I just couldn't get past and over time they grew to bother me quite a bit:

1) Not enough power. Torque dip + having to rev it like a honda to get anything out of the motor was becoming tiresome. Aggressive freeway lane changes were almost impossible w/o dropping it into 3rd/4th, standing on it, and revving up to 7k+ (making a huge scene as the motor screams like an angry god)

2) Ergonomics. The seat is uncomfortable over long drives (no I'm not morbidly obese) and the doors swing really wide. Parking the car in cramped Hawaii parking lots then trying to get out required gymnastics which were messing up my back.

3) Head Unit. It just never seemed to work correctly, and frequently locked up or glitched. The GPS also never worked well with the built in Hawaii maps. No steering wheel controls.

The final nail in the coffin was test driving the 15' WRX on a day off. It had gobs of easily accessible power, was very comfortable to enter/exit and drive, and had steering wheel audio controls and a simple stereo with hardware buttons.

I feel like the fault lies with me, and not the car. The BRZ delivers on everything it advertises. It really is a great car... for the RIGHT person. I thought that was me, but it wasn't. I'm not a young man anymore, and after daily driving the BRZ for 4 months the comforts I thought I would willingly sacrifice for the ultimate driving experience are now deal breakers for long term ownership.

But really, these are facts you realize only after driving a car daily. It's a shame there isn't a way to rent a new car for a month to see if it's really going to be a perfect fit. A test drive can only reveal so much.
Its time to trade in

How satisfied I am?
Well, I'm upset. I have a 6 months old car that looks beat up. While I enjoy driving it, Paint/Clearcoat is too thin and low quality and body sheet metal is way too thin. Dents way to easily and have paint chips all over. The drivers side looks horrible after I spun out on the track, didn't hit anything, just little rocks flying which chipped it horribly and even dented the sheetmetal.
I've raced other cars that have been in way worse situations and only had to wipe it off, with this car is bondo and paint.
If I had to do it all over again, I would buy it used once prices had gone down.

I'm very satisfied with my car, and can say it was worth the long wait from all the anticipation over its production, to anguish over my inability to finance one the first year they were out, to the following year when I finally took delivery of my factory-ordered Galaxy Blue Silica Limited 6MT with just 4 miles on the odometer.

Of course being a sub-$30k car there are some gripes I have, but I'm comparing it to my other car which cost $86k when it was new. Of course the leather isn't going to be as nice, the cabin won't be as quiet, and the paint quality won't be the same. The BRZ is the best new sports car available for under $35k if you ask me. There are a lot of other nice options out there for other types of enthusiasts. For me, I don't want a WRX STi, Evo, or GTI even though they're excellent machines. I want a lightweight car with the engine in the front, drive wheels to the rear, manual shift in the middle, and sexy looks to complement its driving feel.

I won't be replacing it anytime soon for anything that costs less than twice as much.

Yep! But that is what you get when it is designed to keep weight down and be able to produce the car in the price range they wanted to hit. Doesn't take much extra thickness to the metal to add a couple hundred pounds and can't expect Jag level paint. Want heavier sheet metal and (very slightly) better paint check out the Hyundai line or a nice Mustang. I spend 16 hours a week on the highway in mine and don't have a mark on it yet (you have to see how quick I get around dump trucks) even though took more then one stone hit hard enough to hear.

You could have 3Med or Plastidipped the whole car before even driving it if you are gonna be that anal...

Personally I am going to rocker guard my entire car in a couple years when the paint goes further downhill...
