STI front brakes on BRZ (confirm)

Ok before everyone jumps all over me on this subject please let me show you what i have done.
Yes i know about swapping the right caliper to left making the leading piston becoming the trailing, so the brake will not work the right way. yup i know that. And if you are stay with the same side the bleeder now become on the bottome. YES i know that too. BUT......
this is done with a 04 STI caliper, i dont have a clue how the new STI is setup. but if its set up the same as the 04 then its doable.
if you look closely you will see the bleeders. on the other end of the bleeder there is a 5mm allen screw that is screw into the caliper. So all you need to do is remove the bottome screw and take the bleeder and swap positions. Then the STI brake caliper can be mounted correctly with the bleeder on top. YES that screw does come out. AND yes its a bitch cuz it has red lock tite. you will need proper tools to do it. (map gas plays a major roll)
so here is the pic of Left side caliper
ps: i didnt mind the heat on the caliper because i am going to take the pistons out and having the caliper powder coated. onces its done powder coated i will install new seals and boots around the piston. i wll provide final pics
yes before i did all this i mounted the brake caliper to see if its a direct bolt on. yes its a direct bolt on pic is on another camera will provide that tomorrow due to camera is at the shop

pic of it mount up is showing the bleeder upside down but i will provide those pic tomorrow. but this is just the pic that i shown that you can swap out the bleeder with the cap on the opposite ends. i will provide final pics once its back from podwer coating and after i install it

Just buy new brembo bleeders from subaru and install them on the bottoms too. Bleeders on both ends of calipers is perfectly fine :p

so essentially you just torched the shit out of it to get the allen screw out?

i used pb to soak the allen screw... used a map gas and heated around the area for about 2 mins while doing that used an socket adpator for an impact hammer with a t40 torx bit impact deep enough (not enough to puncture the cap) while impacting it with hammer use a 19mm open end wrench and turn the adaptor thats on the impact hammer and the allen screw will come out. once you got it to turn 1/2 turn you can stop the impact and the heat and just unscrew it. so your 5mm allen becomes a t40 torx. its clean and no drilling required. but i recommend ppl that planning to do this find a good shop unless you are a tech yourself and know what to do.
ps: this method worked for me. some ppl might find other ways. you will need a snapon 5mm allen socket. other socket have slight play. even with the snap on i felt the edges starting to round so i stop and used impact hammer. (the impact hammer i use is made by snapon and i was able to just my own speed hence easy on the trigger )

Really interested in the outcome. I have a AP Racing BBK that I am pulling off my LGT and would love to be able to retrofit for the BRZ.

Nice work. Maybe someone can chime in that knows more than me, but I thought I read on here that just upgrading the front calipers will change the brake bias and degrade brake performance. Will you be upgrading the rear as well?

i am not sure how the ap bbk caliper is set up. the calipers i have was off a 04 STI which i installed it on my 05 LGT till the car was totalled by a driver that ran a red light. So i was just curious how it would bolt on to brz and found it bolt on without any problems and then notice the 2 screw caps on the opposite end of the bleeder. if your ap bbk caliper is same with opposite screw cap i dont see why it wont bolt on. Or if you know the piston size on your caliper is all the same then all you have to do the swap sides. (but i would call ap first on the type of caliper that you have before you swap sides) good luck

yes i will be upgrading the rears. i need to find a set of rear brembos which i know its burry some where in the garage... once i dig those up i will give it a shot and do a write up on it. i know it does change the brake bias but most braking are from the fronts. i will def put the front on first then see how much of a bias. but will def try the rear once i dig them out.

Another thought that comes to me: Will this mess up the traction control system? If the system has more braking power will the computer be able to make the adjustment?

I have rear Brembos as well. I have the adapters that I used for the Legacy and a set that will work with GC8s, so will tackle when I get the car.

I will have to check the piston sizes. Hope they are the same to reduce all the extra work of swapping the bleeders. I plan on breaking them down having them PC as well, so I guess it really doesn't matter that much.
