OLM Fog Lights
OMG, soooo many choices, and I have no idea what the difference is between these. I don't want to use them as a DRL. If anything, I would want them to function as a fog light, so even yellow/amber colored, but ideally the housing would be tinted dark, so as to blend in with the bumper. The OLM fog lights seem dark enough, but can they get a yellow led light? Does anyone know if the MY13-16 fog lights are the same brackets as the MY17+? OLM sells different ones for the My17+, but is the harness different or the mounting points? Long story short, will my OEM fog lights on my 2013 BRZ, or aftermarket replacements, mount to a MY17+ bumper?
I am intersted in doing the MY17 bumper swap on my BRZ with the vertical DRLs and maybe some aftermarket headlights like these with a HID retrofit: Some of these are obvious what makes them different like they include a DRL and some don't. Some are just a different shape like the halo versus the corona, but some I just don't understand the difference. my understanding is that they use the same led/optic system, but change and reorient the shroud and the DRL to fit different styles. i see no drastic differences that would indicate otherwise.
personally, i run black rostra's, but also have a pair of morimoto fogs--which are similar to the OLM night seekers. performance is similar, but i had a pre-existing preference for the led chip the rostra's use, which made the morimoto's lose the 'competition' on loosely based preference. i can't offer any advice on the differences between '12-15 and '16-present housing differences.

The mounts look the same across the years, so I am pretty sure that will be ok.
If I don’t want a DRL function then I believe my options are the Vision version without the DRL, or the Solo, which has a DRL version called the Retical, or the Nightseeker, or the Midnight Edition. But what is the difference? Is the light intensity different or the pattern it projects? Also, the Lamin-x will be an optional add on the color or protect the film. Wouldn’t it also be possible to replace the bulb with a colored lens so I can have a black bulb but a yellow light?

there are no bulbs on led products. the 'bulb' is built into the housing.
laminex isn't a bad idea, but a pain to install. i really can't say what the difference between the products really is, only that the optics look similar enough i don't expect it to be anymore than an exterior aesthetic difference.

I switched to LED bulbs to replace the halogens for my interior and exterior. Are you saying these can’t be swapped like those because they are permanent, or are you just saying that LEDs aren’t referred to as bulbs? I just assumed the LEDs were replaceable or changeable.

There are replacement bulbs for your stock housings, but these housings are all one sealed piece. You can't replace the bulbs, and there is a big heatsink on the back. I can't speak to the year differences, but I have the OLM non DRL version and they're a big improvement. They do sit back a slight bit farther than the stock housings did, but other than that it was plug and play and they match the factory HID color nicely. |

The brackets are definitely different between the years. Three, triangle-pattern mounts on the MY17+ instead of four, square-pattern mounts. I need to confirm a difference in the harness.

The OEM 2017+ Fog light kit (Part Number: PT413-18170) comes with an adapter to go from 4 hole fogs to 3 hole mounting. I've been trying to find a part number for just the adapter but haven't been able to track it down. Next time I'm at the dealership I'm going to see if they can get it for me. |

After some consideration, I realized in the last four years I have used the fog lights twice and that I probably didn’t even need them. I’m considering just going without them, but there is some confusion I have with the bezel options. There seems to be be a bezel design that has the fog light and one that does not, and a different version that does not. See below. Any other differences I need to know?
I’m not positive which one of the fogless bezels I like best.
