Contact your dealer and ask them about the bulletin released today by Toyota.

Ravine, that is not the case, i ordered a week and a bit before pricing and got pushed back from aug to oct build - the problem is it is luck of the draw ... i have seen some people order after me in the same spec (diff colour) and recieving end of august. the whole process is rediculious

Same here. Ordered May 1 - got told July delivery, and then pushed out to October. Thankfully I cancelled that and landed a car by chance..

What I did was I pre-ordered and found out stock release dates and confirmed a car with a VIN number which is how I got my car so fast.

But yeah some dealers are pretty shifty in those regards.

I am not in the habit of dishing out BS - only told it the way I was told. So if there is any BS, its from the dealer. If 8 months is more accurate then the dealer is spinning it to me to try and get my money and he has just lost it completely. Deposit for the car was not refundable either - his words not mine - unless you think I am still full of bull shit.

Dealer was Jeremy at Albion Park Toyota.

In 18 months there will probably be second hand models appearing for sale. Not many, but a few. I would expect that they would be snaped up pretty quickly.

I'm waiting on a GT and wonder if I should put my name down for a GTS if one comes up. I can see people maybe cancelling orders now because of the waits. *Fingers crossed*

Marketing is done to benefit the company. How does Toyota benefit from telling people it takes 18 months to get one? There is no benefit whatsoever.

They're different spec and drive type. Not entirely sure how it works but I think we would need to be looking to secure allocation from the Japan, UK production.

Its a double edged sword at the end of the day. Great for Toyota publicity on one hand, but long lead times are a buzz kill. Its really just the first time in recent history it has happened to Toyota. It happened to Volkswagen for Golf GTI, R, Scirocco and Polo GTI. Even Tiguan and now Touareg.

We can't lose sight of what Toyota has created here. Name another cast that had created so much hype, and then knocked every competitor out of the park with super sharp pricing. I can't think of one that did both so convincingly.
