You know...If I were going to be a car salesman, I think I'd do a little bit of research and know the car inside/out before I tried to bullshit a customer ESPECIALLY when they're looking at a car that would appeal to enthusiast. That’s probably why 99% of salesmen come off as pieces of trash to me because they do not take the initiative to take time out of their "busy" life to learn easily available information about what they’re selling...

I'm glad I found an honest dealer when I bought my car. When I looked for the car I put a deposit at a local dealer. But they were ****ing me around claiming they didn't know the price, when it was going to be delievered, etc. So I looked around and found another place. They told me they won't be charging markups, told me an exact delivery date, and said "im sure you know more about this car me since it's the first one we have sold".
Last I checked, the shady dealer still had the car I preordered on the lot 6 months later so I'm glad I canceled. They probably trying to charge a markup or some other BS |

I daresay the BSing techniques of car salesmen have probably proven effective for them on many an occasion, since the majority of people who saunter into car dealerships don't know squat about the cars either (or can easily be swayed from what they thought they read online).

Sorry to disappoint but its an A960E from the is250 and gs300. It's stamped that and upgrades are sold on this site for the a960e for a reason. Toyota didn't even bother changing the gear ratios. This is a parts bin car after all. Heck, here's a link to some from SSP: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1345929

One of the salesmen at the dealer I went to thought it was AWD. I went to drop of my WRX for some warranty work and was looking around the show room at the XV Cross trek and a BRZ that had a rear diffuser on it since i went the ebay way and wanted to see the difference between the OEM and cheaper alternatives. The salesmen started talking to me about turning my WRX in for a BRZ and said they are essentially the same AWD and all. I basically said no i have a BRZ and its definitely rear wheel drive, The guy swore it was AWD, after a bit of arguing i just said okay and walked off. I've never had much faith in the knowledge of dealer salesmen but that was a new low

I knew more about the BRZ than the sales guy I talked to. In his defense, I knew that I wanted the care before I got there and I did a TON of research before I walked onto the lot.

after i bought my 2013 370Z base the sales reps tried to show me and hook up my phone to bluetooth and then realized the car didn't come with bluetooth haha and that it didn't play mp3 cd's in the head unit
i guess that was the epitome of base for a $33,000+ car lol |

When I went to the dealership in 2012 I already knew what I was getting anyway, so when the salesperson found I knew substantially more than him, he just said "well there is nothing else I really need to say, just take it for the day and let us know how it went".
Spent the day seeing how it would be to DD and went back 6 hours later. Traded the keys for some paperwork and put the order in. I was happy enough that he did not try and blow smoke up my ass. Just an honest Toyota salesman that you could tell was more used to selling camrys to families and hilux to tradies. |
