I think the ignorance is yours. Read his location, it's China, so clearly English isn't his first language. And he makes a point point regarding concern about turbo placement for some of the early kits being exposed to more environmental factors, though P&L has their front turbo kit for people that don't live where there is a mild climate (and roads that aren't salted in winter).

Turbos can regulate boost levels by allowing exhaust gasses to bypass the turbine. That allows them to build full peak boost and then hold it over a broad rpm range. Centrifugal superchargers are tied to the crank's speed and can only produce peak boost at redline.

Lobe, screw or other positive displacement superchargers produce boost immediately.

But that S/C Whine! You can hear the power!!

I agree, we need to be seeing kits with efficient S/Cs. I've heard a lot of good things about screw and roots, though I've never driven a car with either myself.

Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't exhaust noise going to be quite easily tunable? Just run the exhaust you want, or stock... It's not like this is a turbo where parts of the exhaust are a part of the kit...

Yep. But, they are also more efficient. HKS copied the Rotrex design.

I don't get the fear of having a turbo mounted low. There is a skid plate under the car anyway.

Not entirely true. Their 4G63 headers were notorious for cracking at the welds.

It will be worth watching the low mount turbos long term reliability for those who live in wet climates. A 10" of water on a low level crossing will almost submerge some or part of the low mount turbos, I am sure one dunking wont hurt but repeated dunkings could bring some nasty issues

People shouldn't be driving through 10" of water on a daily basis anyways, especially with this car.

Its my understanding that the skid plate protects all of that.

The skid plate is just a sheet of molded thin plastic?
