Being from north of Toronto I just had this exact same problem LOL. Always found that going into second then first helped.

Millers 75w-90NT is best
From my experience good cold shifting low sheer resistance. i.e. putting in gear

Motul gear300 is second best
good cold shifting. med sheer resistance. a little harder to get into gear but still good

I wouldnt use any other fluid in the trans if you want cold shifting.

I sort of had this problem and I just kept switching out trans fluid. First I tried Motul, then Redline, then Motul again. Gradually it went away and I never ever find it difficult to put it into gear anymore, no matter the weather

it's technically rev-matching, but i'm not revving above 1500rpm at the most.

i noticed a while back that if i held the stick against the syncro while everything was cold and it didn't want to go into 1st, it would go as soon as the revs matched. so i just barely blip the throttle to get the motor falling in revs the same time the car is coming to a stop to widen the 'sweet spot', and not push so hard on cold syncro's.

If you upgraded the clutch and pressure plate you may have a bad fork

First off, it's an "engine" - not a "motor".

Second off, YOU are the one that drug your car to the cold climate -

at what point does an engine become a motor? between the electronic fuel injection, spark timing, cam adjusters, and alternators, our engine wouldn't run without creating it's own electricity!

therefore, our cars must have a engin-otor!

Now, now, the Internet tells me that:

"Motor and engine are interchangeable in standard English. In some engineering jargons, the two words have different meanings, in which engine is a device that burns or otherwise consumes fuel, changing its chemical composition, and a motor is a device driven by electricity, air, or hydraulic pressure, which does not change the chemical composition of its energy source".

Therefore:

All motors are engines but not all engines are motors.

Got it?

Now, I got to get on with paying my bills. Yes, I pay them by check, not auto deduction. Why? It's a throwback to the times when I couldn't pay them all at the same time. Started by paying the ones that said "final notice".
