You should move to a free state so you can enjoy your guns the way they were intended to be used.

Those old Swiss milsurps are serious business. It doesn't hurt that the issue GP11 ammunition is basically match grade, either.

My K11 shoots way better than I can.

Are all those Swiss milsurps straight-pull bolts? The mechanism seems interesting, but I don't generally have an interest in milsurp.

Yes. The 1889, 1896, 1896/11, G11, and K11 are pure Schmidt-Rubin straight pull rifles, and the K31 is a slightly modified one, but they're all straight-pulls.

The Canadian Ross rifles and the Austrian Steyr-Mannlicher (I posted my M95 a while back) are two other straight-pull rifle designs.

I also have a Steyr M95 carbine but the action is not smooth as the k31. The only thing that is close to the k31 is the Ross rifle. I shot quite a few of them and they are a lot better than their reputation.

Yeah, the Schmidt-Rubin bolts are fast. If you think the K31 has a smooth bolt throw, get a G11 or a K11. Seriously slick and a fantastic trigger.

The Ross rifles get a bum rap. The Mk. III ruined it for the other models, and even the Mk. III isn't the horror story it gets made out to be. It just wasn't suited for trench warfare. To be fair, a lot of other rifles weren't either.

ETA: Did your K31 have a troop tag?

California get's the good weather but in exchange, we have horrible emissions regulations (for car lovers at least), and loving guns is tough too..

Yes but the owner have not got back to me yet. He was born in 38 so even if he is still around he would be quite old.

A lot of them have passed away by now, true. I have a tag on my K11, but its owner is certainly dead now (born in 1907).
