So glad I bought a used AP2 S2000 instead of the FR-S. Better engine, better suspension design, and already has depreciated about as much as it's going to..... so, a better overall investment.

I might as well just pick up another used SR20DET swapped 240sx for $4-$6k to get my turbo thrills instead of continuing to wait on Toyota to step up their game.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the new MX5, the Nissan IDx, and other similar cars get released. Akio Toyoda has said something before about wanting to try to drop 200 pounds from the GT86, hasn't he? That would really make it MUCH better in every way. I hope that happens if there is no power upgrade.

A turbo or bigger displacement motor is definately coming. Why? Nissan is talking direct competition with the iDX in price, performance and more power (just not looks lol). The juke 1.6L turbo already puts out 197hp and more torque than the FA20 and rumors are the Nismo idx will carry the 1.8L turbo at above 240hp. Kia is talking under $30k, under 3,000lbs, over 300hp for their Stinger and lets not talk about the new, lighter, IRS, turbo 4 Mustang. Two years from now the twins will not be the only RWD sport coupes on the block anymore and will be force to compete with the new entries.

Of course they will deny power upgrades. There is no competition in the current market and they wish to continue selling cars. What would gained by promoting version that's 2 years off?

And to you "why do you need more power?" losers need to stop smoking crack. I love my SWP BRZ Limited but for 40-50 more warrantied horses I will trade this bad boy in a second.

I don't give a sht about a turbo trim for the gt86. I totally agree with their philosophy - keep it "pure" (ie: simple and NA and inexpensive...like the original 86).

Now...that Supra though. Very very exciting indeed. Though I'll never be able to afford it..still excited to see them planning to make a new one. Supra was always the most pure Japanese sports car (had a more timeless approach being a classic FR sportscar, than the other off-the-wall Japanese sports cars that had nontraditional platforms (ie: not FR) such as AWD (GTR/Impreza/Evo), or a weird rotary engine (RX7), or only 4cyl (impreza/evo), or just too expensive closer to supercar status and a midengine (NSX), etc., etc. The Supra is the only true FR 6cyl Japanese beast that is comparable to the classic american muscle car (sans the cr@ppy american suspension lol).

I don't get why so many are tripping bout adding HP to this car... Toyota and Subaru doesn't need to "keep up" in terms of hp to other cars.

However there are tons of improvements that can be n need to be made like weight obviously. FRS/BRZ is overweight than planned in design.

Do people still not understand the predecessor of this car is an AE86?

I can see people complaining if this was a Supra with a 200hp engine. The GT86/FRS will always be a low-powered sports car.

It doesnt matter what those presses say, even mr aikio toyoda works for his consumers. We are his consumers, and if he doesnt welcome us ? Fine, we wander some where else.

You know what best ? The lease a new car program in the US. It works so well that you can literally lease every thing out there on the market, customize the way you want, the term you got, even negotiating the car.

Keep in mind, all the sport cars Toyota releasing = the markets has been asking for. That includes Supra...why ? Because Consumers

lol, funny thing about that is when I was shopping for a new car in 2005, I was looking at a brand new black Celica at the Toyota dealership here and the car dealer told me I may just want to get the tC because it's replacing the phasing out Celica anyway and is a better car. I mean even the name of the car!!! TC. Just call it Toyota Celica and get it over with now... LOL Touring Coupe....

How about instead of complaining and whining, you could go and look for news and contribute to the forum.

Thanks
In early 2012 when the VP of scion and the VP of Toyota of North America told us to our faces no turbo, and the 10-15 times other Toyota reps have stated it since and before. all that was good enough for me if you need more people to say the same shit and have the same inane conversations over and over again that's fine with me. I was just stating that its not really new news when a different person says the same shit.

Did you know we laded on the moon. There you go new news I said it so its NEW.

Links?

This thread is not talking about the Scion FR-S. It's talking about Europe and the Toyota GT86....

No one is forcing you to click on this thread. If you already know everything than just move on please.

Did you know all you do is troll and do not bring anything to the discussion?

Oh guess what? This thread made it on the front of FT86Club's page...
