TRD Intake ! CAI ?!

Personally, I have tried out the INJEN and AFE intake on the BRZ / FRS. Both does have pretty good high rpm power gains which you can feel it but when it comes to ON/OFF throttle response, I think stock air box performs much better. With the stock intake or with a panel filter, the acceleration improves at lower rpm especially 1-4k range but you won't have the pull like the after market intakes.

The first time I saw the TRD intake on the Scion celebrity race car, that design really get my attention. Bigger air box increasing intake volume, this intake will improve throttle response and power. I don't think it will make as much power as a aftermarket box up cone filter, however, throttle response SHOULD be unbeatable.

Since no one has dyno the TRD intake, it's too early to judge if it's good or bad. So I will be dynoing this unit and plus a DRIFT OFFICE tune along with it.

Here's are some pics for the intake :

I will keep you update how the install and dyno goes.

Thanks
Ben

In that second picture, it almost looks like you can take off the red TRD letters. I'd like to do that if it's possible.

@F1point4 has a picture from the inside of the box. It appears you can push them out or shave them.

In for the depressing results. Glad someone is finally doing it so I can either STFU or continue my bashing.

I wonder if it's possible to make the opening larger and pair it up with a bigger air duct

Thanks. I saw your post and noticed you were surprised by it being made in the US. TRD USA and TRD Japan are totally different. Iirc, TRD USA is actually under Toyota North America and has nothing to do with Toyota Japan. Many of the exhaust are rebranded or made by US companies.

Why would you go take off 50% of the products value?

IMO it would look completely stock with it off.

You could probably add this on, but the actual opening to the intake can't be changed most likely, unless you mod it.
