Anyone know if the TRD Intake fits the newer 2019 BRZ?

I'm wondering if the TRD intake is compatible with the 2019 (2017+) BRZ.
I ask because i just discovered that the K&N BRZ/FRS/86 panel filter I ordered is too small (apparently the intake and filter changed as part of the +5hp increase in 2017+ models).

Return the panel filter (presumably you bought one for 13-16) and get the 2017+ version? TRD intakes are like $300, and you'll need to get the not-exactly-cheap TRD filter as well.

Since the TRD intake is a complete replacement kit (airbox and piping), I don't see why it wouldn't fit. Don't quote me on it though, as I haven't done an install.

You can buy a 13-16 OE airbox for cheap, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it unless you have specific component clearance issues (e.g. supercharger/turbocharger kit)

I figure I might as well go all in, and the TRD price is close to the other intakes anyway.

Waste of money. Just get a drop in filter and call it a day. Stock CAI is good

Most dyno studies out there have shown that the stock airbox is very efficient with a performance filter. If you really want to max it, maybe cut/open up the snorkel so the frontal area is larger. It's considered a CAI due to the intake position.

Just for awareness: any intake upgrade over a drop-in performance filter is going to net you very little hp/$. You'll probably throw >$200 at it for 0 to 5 hp (depending on claims) over stock airbox with performance filter

It's cool if you want a new intake, but don't trick yourself into thinking you're guaranteed big gains

The 2017+ intake is about the equivalent to the pre facelift version TRD one. Be no advantage beyond bling value.

Tcoat: there is one thing that i like in TRD intake though if in relation to older twins though - just like on MY2017, TRD intake reduces airflow resistance not by just less resistive filter element (and thus less filtering), but rather by much larger filtering area (though of course less densely packed then in MY2017 airbox). Slight & expensive gains of bad price/performancy indeed, but imho "safer" longterm, especially for dusty places.
