Good buy or not? South Africa
I really, and I cannot stress this enough, REALLY love the GT86/BRZ. Been wanting one since they came out. Here is one that is in my price range. Yay or nay?
I will be using it as a daily and will drive about 50km a day. Will she be reliable? And what are the maintenance costs on these? Thanks in advance! https://www.autotrader.co.za/cars-fo...listing-page=0 Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk |

The biggest problem with the 2012/2013 86s/BRZ is they can have a bearing failure, which means your car could put a piston through the block and this becomes an expensive exercise. The reason for the problem is not clear. So if i was buying a 12 or 13 make sure it has an extended warranty. From what I heard from July 2013 the problem was fixed but one or 2 people have reported bearing failures on later models. My 2012 86 did 45000 before an accident(She was repaired and I believe still has her original engine) and my 2014 is on 60000 and neither gave me any problems.
With regards to maintenance: A basic service from Toyota is +-3500 and the spark plug(every 90k) is about 10k. On my town/traffic drive i get 9.5l per 100. Best I have seen driving long road is 8.9 |

Wow laser. Heavy foot?
I got 6.5 to 7 per 100 on highway driving and 9-10 on city driving. Different story with ethanol and a SC. Hehehe. Azzy86. Do it. It’s no worse than any other car and I service at Subaru for a ton less than Toyota. Last one was R2400 I think.
