Nvidia N1 Long Term Review and Oiling Problems of the FA20

The car I'm writing about is a gt86 2014 m/y and it's only engine mod is the N1 exhaust. It has been brought to my dad's shop for the valve spring recall. From first sight the exhaust was really loud and raspy. Then when I got a look under the car the thing was rusting like a 80's escort. It was really bad. When I got a drive in the car it was SO drony at around 3-5 k rpm that the driver kept the pedal off for the most part. As far as the recall the guy that was doing it was super aware and careful of what he was doing. The test driver said that it actually ran better after the recall. The rating I give to this catback is 3/10. It's good for people who like their car to be as loud as possible and don't care about quality and reliability.

More information on the recall:
When we opened the cams the bearings were scratched which means there is not enough oiling. Also the cam cover was leaking oil which is pretty comon on these cars. My recomendations are: get a larger oil pickup tube as that will keep the oil pressures healthy (these cars have lower oil pressures because of this, also a guy on the forum did an article about it so give it a read) and about the cam plate-a lot of manufacturers make replacements so it won't be hard to do and find. These things are not necesary for making more power or whatever. They are things that are really good to do, because they increase the life of the engine.

Good write up.

That color is beautiful but man, the N1 looks weird with the quad exhaust outlets.
