the worst part if that you'd be stuck with a 'subaru loaner', which is most likely a cvt-equipped forester.

that's 2nd-level-of-hell as far as i'm concerned.

i'm not opposed to a 3rd pedal equipped model, but i don't even want a key for a cvt model.

Ok, so it's set up.

I will drop the car off on the 9th of September. Will def ask for dyno logs. Printed on SIA letterhead for fun.

I will apparently get a Forester as a loaner, and they need five cars total.

The phone screening questions were hilarious.

Have you used the car to plow snow? No.
Have you towed with the car? No.
Have you street raced the car? If I did, I'm not saying anything.
Is the car modified (exhaust, tune, etc)? No.
Is the OEM cluster intact and unmodified? Yes.
Any new glass, paintwork, or other damage repaired in the last 90 days? No, but this is impressively crappy paint, even for three-wet.
Is the car equipped with the OEM tyres and wheels? Not at the moment, but it will be when I drop it off for you.
etc.

They did not ask how much time I have spent banging off the rev limiter, or if the car is tracked, or anything else that might imply it actually gets driven.

Not really. They want cars that are as close to factory as possible. A cluster swap would bring the total mileage into question, and EPA wants to see cars with a minimum number of miles on them.

Most likely they are just going to stick an EGA up the tailpipe, monitor the OBD2 port while they simulate loads. Doubt they will do any actual pulls with it.

Dropped it off today. Got a fine white Legacy sedan as a loaner.

Had a bit of a heart attack when reading the fine print of the questionnaire as it basically said "no motorsports events at all". I asked the guy who did the acceptance and he said well what do you do? I said HPDE, and a fair amount of it. He said oh, "driver skills development", that is excellent that you do that! I said, why yes, "driver skills development", indeed! Then we talked about transitioning from FWD to RWD and he mentioned that FWD NA vs FWD turbo was also a thing for him because the cars take off. I mentioned that I know a thing or two about that.

So, anyway, I will find out more in about two-three weeks.

And.... no changes.

Got the car back with the check and the letter indicating that there are no changes made and that all is ok.
