Faded air intake

Looking at buying a my15 86 just a quick looks at the pics has me worried that the air intake is faded compared to the rest.
And has a massive high shift stick

Sign of high engine temps?
Its also going cheap at 17.5K for a GTS model in Aus

Looks clean in the right way. Hasn't been molested. The white stuff comes out of the pores of the rubber.

LOL if you only knew what my intake intake looks like (not to mention the rest of the engine).

All is good there.

suspicious they cleaned it before attempting to sell it? friggin stealerships!

ok the consistent truth in this case for me, is a clean engine bay is fine. all it takes is a rag and some soapy water. an engine bay that has had what appears to be a 5 gallon bucket of tire shine poured over it is indicative of a someone attempting to hide a problem in the glossy surfaces.

Looks like mine. I just blow out the engine bay with compressed air while dusting the bigger areas with a foxtail brush. You can see where the dust was wiped off of the fuse box. The under-body aero does an amazing job of keeping everything clean.

Photos of NEW parts look like that.

It's the nature of the semi-soft rubber they often use for those intake boots, it'll have a patchy gray coating that may or may now wash off and which may or may not bleed back out of after washing.

It’s just molting into a silicone intake tube.
