It's like wearing a fake label.. or a fake fancy watch.. why would you?

Who the hell bought a 2000GT for a million?
There are very special version/concours level ones selling for almost half that.
Still not cheap but not a million either.

Perhaps it was a rather special "fake" GT200000...

I can't even stand when people clone actual cars to higher models (there are more Chevelle SS on the road now than they built) so throwing even a good kit on does not impress me and would not let it in my garage to start with.

Nah. Just find it hilarious actually.
Half the people around my area think Scion is some exotic or a special version of Porsche but at least I laugh and correct them when they say something that dumb.

I struggle with re-shelled mk 1 mini Coopers. Minis rot, when it becomes uneconomical to restore we get re-shelling.. new shells are manufactured by the British Motor Heritage, a legitimate business. The question is whether a re-shelled car using the original VIN is still the original car?? The same applies to MGBs and the old Lotus Elans using a new chassis..

I'm with you on that particular habit. Not much into "tribute cars". @JD001 Same goes for taking a 60% wrecked car and restoring it to "like new". It really isn't, it actually is new, even if built from new-old stock.

I consider the kit route a different thing all together though. More like building a hot rod, if done right.

I don't look at it that way, as I said, more like building a hot rod. Of course, I wouldn't label it Ferrari either.

The done right part is what can be lacking. My biggest beef is when they badge it as what the kit body shape is.

Just thinking that her comments of "man-child" about me are maybe not so much endearing as her being brutally honest!

He's doing well, and the kids are great, so it's all good!
