I'm working on it. Basically it's a DIY slave cylinder replacement but with the "correct" one. Nothing special.

I'm taking extra time to put myself in the head of someone who has never touched it. Trying to take nothing for granted.

The stock tune has a lot to do with the hard to start off in 1st.

After getting a tune the made the throttle response better and more power from idle and up, the car is now much easier to drive.

Our cars stock tune has it falling on it's face just off of idle (there's just nothing there) making it hard to start off and the way the engine revs down it also makes it hard to shift smoothly.

Mike, appreciate the input and I understand exactly what you mean about the logarithmic throttle curve and the weird idle control. The lack of clutch feel is a different issue and the improvement after replacing the slave cylinder is nothing short of amazing. I urge you to give it a try. If you don't like it you can always switch it back.

I bet you the price of the cylinder you'll never look back. It transforms the car.

Thanks,

I may try this mod, as well as the spring removal mod, but I also had the issues with starting off in 1st and inability to shift smoothly, and after dialing in my tune, I really have no complaints any more.

There's always room for improvement though, so I may still take your advice and change the slave cylinder out.

It's amazing, I can drive my Z06 with a huge cam and dual-disc clutch smoother than my BRZ daily driver, lol. Something is not right with that. I may try the spring removal and I'll probably get a tune in the spring, so it's promising to know that should help.

Writing instructions at a super basic level like that is a challenge sometimes. You don't realize how much base knowledge you take for granted until you try to write instructions for someone who has never done it before.

Take a look at @F1point4's DIY instructions. Really easy to follow, lots of pics with annotations, etc... Would definitely be a good place to start.

Really interested in the DIY. I've only owned 2 manual cars and I just thought I sucked and wasn't use to this manual/clutch feel yet going from the an Audi S4 to an FRS.

Wow, he is prolific! And I like his style. Going to have to step up my game.

Most of the photos are done and annotated. @F1point4's stuff reminded me of a couple additional details so I will add them.

Been hard down with a cold the last couple days. Lame, I know.

IMHO, just reinstall the factory spring. Been thinking about how both mods increase the pedal stiffness. Doubling down might not be the hot ticket.

Are you going to see how it is with the spring removed?

Yeah, I guess so. I'm really on the fence but am not above being shamed into it.
