Random_art covered it, but find me an NHRA topfuel dragster that uses a passenger car piston engine!

You want to talk passenger cars though? The worlds fastest passenger cars use turbos.

The Koenigsegg CCX runs dual Rotrex units.

i know the pic is kinda crummy, but I tried to find one of the actual engine bay. None of the pics of the installed engine show the rotrex units.

Yeah I know, Koenigsegg put the rotrex on the map so to speak.
Rotrex. The closest a supercharger can get to a turbo...

SSC ultimate aero uses twin turbo's, lingenfelter uses twin turbo's, Hennessey uses twin turbo's, and all the V8 dyno comp guys are starting to catch on.......

all 3!!! there are true aftermarket kits, like the miata kit (originally a cosworth kit) that used a 4th gen eaton; the ZR1, CTS-V, and S4 all use OEM 6th gen TVS eatons; and the TRD tundra SC kit uses a 6th gen TVS eaton as well.

and that's why im optimistic that we may see a TRD kit for the FT. they've already done it with the tundra. AND they used the newest TVS 6th gen eatons with built in water to air IC. also for a flat 4 that's mounted low and close to the firewall, it's screaming for a SC over a complicated turbo setup...

and that's why i started this thread. to show just how far superchargers have come. these arent the archaic units used in the recent past. these new units are heavily engineered OEM quality units.

We actually got a factory TRD Hilux released here, as well as the aftermarket TRD kits. The TRD hilux is still very restricted though, but goes nice.

Aftermarket products for FT86 in general is going to be huge!

but these guys are number chasers. they have to sell their kits and people, stupid people, look only at numbers. when you get to "ludicrous speed" level, its a HP war and a supercharger can never compete.

I keep thinking how funny it would be to gut my Mountaineer, slap a couple of turbos on it, and swap in a tranny from a mustang. Just to see people's faces at the drag strip.

The only beef I have with that Bullet SC you linked is "OEM high quality Installation with virtually silent Supercharger operation." Where's the fun in that?

That being said, I feel like I'm one of the relatively few people here planning on a Rotrex build for mine. I was thinking of the C30-94 with a front mount intercooler. Though, I was curious, that kit you linked had a water based intercooler with a front mounted radiator. Do those work better than the standard Air-to-Air intercoolers that you generally find on turbo cars?
Water to Air IC's are superior for race cars, not for daily drivers. Water to air coolers are more efficient so they can be smaller. You can drop ice in the reservoir to radically reduce charge air temps on the track. And you can mount them almost anywhere without worrying about them getting maximum airflow.

However, in a daily driver they can get overwhelmed and heat soaked causing them to be extremely inefficient in long duration trips. That combined with all the added accessories and parts that can fail, I would never go with a water to air intercooler unless it was exclusively a track car. Air to air can handle the job just fine.
