An oil pressure gauge along side a temp gauge will motivate any sensible person with a stock engine to look into an oil cooler. Don't cheap out. Get a good one.
the real question is where to mount pressure sender? apparently there's a number of high and low pressure spots within the system

i haven't seen a good answer for that

Doesn't get too hot around here so even with FI there's no need for oil cooler if you're not tracking. I don't think i've seen my temps past 235, 240 degrees. Most of the time it's ~220.

Dug through some old pics pre-boost and found my coolant temp has always been right in the middle (it was 115 outside that day). Oil Temps need to be addressed.

Just for grins the Pic in the owners manual...

that image is some sort of diagnostic screenshot. 13v battery voltage either means that your charging system is failing, or is being run off of a poorly regulated charger/external power supply.

you should be seeing a battery voltage of either 12v when the vehicle screens are on but the motor is off, or you'll see a battery voltage of 14.2-14.4v with the engine running.

any deviation from 14v means there's something wrong.

yes, i know, i'm just specifying not to use it as a reference for anything other than their own description, as at least one of the indicated levels is not a typical vehicle condition.

There are only a couple practical places to measure pressure. The service manual gives one data point, 73 PSI @ 176 F to be measured at the port for the idiot light switch

https://demos.starbase7.net/t3Portal...00T5102GX.html

This is a good thread where I was inspired to reproduce a test of the difference between pressure at the stock port and at the tap just upstream of the mains gallery. The whole thread is a good read but if you want to cut to the chase, see post 89.

I'm happy measuring at the mains. It's a convenient spot and the numbers are especially meaningful after seeing how much more the downstream pressure fluctuates with temperature. I don't bother looking at temp anymore. I can deduce it on the fly by comparing pressure against engine speed.

Not on a 17+ the charge logic will cut the alternator at idle when hot and battery is fully charged. I see that voltage on mine all the time. It does not stay there long. This will reduce fuel usage at idle and should increase battery life.

My NA 17 gets to this anytime it's over 100F and freeway driving. Hard uphill canyon driving I can get up to 250ish but not for long. I would say 200 to 220 is pretty normal. The first few pictures... Probably too hot.

Press and hold center button on right steering wheel control to change scale of coolant temp on gauge.

My oil temp on stock 17' can easily get past 250F.

no thats normal coolant temp if you hold the center dot on the right side of the steering wheel it will tell you that that level is 190F

You just push and hold for a few seconds, and the guage also adjusts to the lower mark, as in the on my dash 190F is that lower mark as shown but to everyone else without the labels on the side, their coolant temps are also or just around 190F.

But also the using the other unlabeled method the cold coolant light turns off as soon as you can see the slightest red line on the coolant section, meanwhile for me since i use the labels mine does not...
