Wasn't going to pay the extra for the kit for a tune I was just going to throw away anyway plus I already have a licence wasn't going to pay twice. Anyway I got it sorted out. I threw my bigger injectors in and it fired right up. Figure the scaling is closer. Now it's getting loaded up on a trailer and towed to get a proper tune.

It's 2.5 bar, the scaling is entirely different, and the base map from Edelbrock doesn't cost anything.

Whoever sold you the kit should have made some clarifications for you.

The tune is FREE to anyone who owns an Edelbrock kit. Kit 1556 includes an EcuTek cable and license; kit 15560 does not include an Ecutek cable and license.

The tune is available to everyone with a kit; all you have to do is provide Edelbrock with your dongle ID. Email them now, and you'll have a tune for stock injectors probably by Noon tomorrow.

So are you saying that I could, for shits & grins, even though I am running another tune (from Moto-East), email calibration@edelbrock.com with my dongle ID and get an Edelbrock OTS tune free, flash my car with that for let's say, comparison sake and then it flash back if I wanted without any issues (licensing or otherwise)?

Thumbs up

Alright - I finally had some time to work on the BRZ tonight. I ended up ordering a smoke machine for $80 shipped off of eBay.

Link to ebay item

It runs off a 12v battery and compressed air. There's a regulator on the side which drops it down to 2 psi. There's a nichrome wire wrapped in a wick which is then soaked in mineral oil. 30 seconds after hooking everything up you've got a nice steady stream of smoke.

I removed the TMAP sensor, stuck the smoke hose in, blocked off the intake pipe with some duct tape, and immediately looked towards the bypass valve to see if that was the issue.

There was plenty of smoke, but nothing coming from the bypass valve.

Smoke was pouring out of somewhere.

I let the engine bay clear and then resmoked it. It was coming from one of the hoses attached to the EVAP solenoid. Specifically the hose that connects the EVAP solenoid to the throttle body. There are two hoses that connect to the solenoid, one of which, the Edelbrock instructions say to use an included hose clamp. The other is just press fit on. That hose came right off with a ginger tug.

Didn't need to remove the AC compressor or anything else. Used a long pair of forceps to pull the hose off and then attached a hose clamp.

Resmoked it and nothing leaked from the EVAP solenoid this time. The entire engine bay was pretty clear except for a little bit leaking out of the intake. Manifold gaskets and the other hoses seemed tight.

I know others have raised the issue of clamping the EVAP hoses for all forced induction installs (given the number of threads explicitly calling it out) however, I don't understand why Edelbrock wouldn't just include another clamp and write it into the instructions?

I'm hoping this solves my issue. Will monitor fuel consumption and take some MAP logs the next time I get to drive...

Threw a P0507 code again today.

Anyone have thoughts on where else to look? Loose hoses, or places that air could be getting in?

The behavior is noticeable when coming up to a stop. Clutch in, foot on the brake, the RPMs will dip down to 1000 and then climb back up to 2000 where it spins for a few seconds before settling back down to 1000. Once it settles, it stays there without wavering. The entire time, my right foot is on the brake, so no effect from the accelerator.

This is getting tiresome.
