Update #1
Yesterday we got the unit installed. In total i would put installation time around 30 minutes. Dead simple installation. Remove stock air tube, remove stock resonator and sound generator, install the unit as in the picture. We connected up the breather hoses and ensured the PCV vent had a check valve in it. After that we pulled my battery out and dropped the new one in and wired to the controller. For a first installation the fit was bang on. Now came the moment of truth, what was going to happen when i turned this thing on? I started the engine and it came to life just as it normally did, no drama, AFR's bang on 14.7. Next i backed it out of the garage and started to take it for a little drive. For the first minute or two, while the engine warmed up, i drove out of boost. Nothing seemed different, throttle response was the same and acceleration was the same. Finally i tried my luck with a WOT run in 2nd gear. I first heard the click of the switch engaging followed by rushing air and we were off. It has Noticable Torque when it comes on showing a peak of 4psi. I continued bagging around 1st, 2nd and 3rd all whip by pretty fast. Definitely faster than stock. After getting home i checked the logs, no knock, AFR's seemed good at WOT and MAF airflow was up by over 30% between 3500 and 5500. We are working to schedule dyno time now to see what numbers we are getting but the torque is definitely noticeable. I tried to take a video last night but it didnt turn out as i was the only one in the car. I plan on doing before and after GO PRO video's of the acceleration for reference. MORE UPDATES TO COME: sorry for the crap picture quality and dirty engine bay, ill fix something nice up soon Here is a picture of it before the controller was installed: |

I think that motor needs to be bigger, or faster spinning, or geared.

Yes boost pressure dropped. At redline it was at about 1.5psi.
Key is it is NON-parasitic boost though. that 1.5 psi is actually worth quite a bit. This was the first installation there is alot more dev that is going to be happening soon! My baseline with stage 1 was 168hp, we will know exactly how much this thing makes very soon. Honestly i was trying to get it to drain the battery and i couldn't, not on the street. The torque dip provides alot of restriction which is why I am getting 4psi at my altitude. |

Much speculation as to what the electronics are. My 2 cent opinion goes toward a voltage converter. The fan runs on 28 volts: the car on 14. The voltage from the alternator has to be bumped up to support two batteries wired in series to make the 28.

There's also an ESC in there. I'd like to see this run on a 6c LiPo pack.

Really want to see someone pair up some electric motors on that turbo's compressor wheel. Looks like it only reaches 37,000 rpm.
Looking at the comp map here: http://www.phantomsuperchargers.com/fts-tq25024v.html 50,000 rpms would be about 650-700 cfm @ around 7psi sea level... 7psi on the low end would be crazy fun... |
