These cars don't seem to be selling well in areas with nothing but straight flat roads. I've only seen a couple on the roads (like 3 or 4) within a 30 mile radius from my house so far. It makes sense for them to cut the prices on the 2013 in the northeast, if you ask me.

It's not just the FRS/BRZ's that are being discounted. All car manufacturers are wanting to move the end of year MY2013 in preparation for the incoming 2014. Best time to buy a car is the end of the year .... assuming you're buying the prior year car.

Coming from a Gencoupe, I can tell you the FRZ is a much more driver focused car. Good luck! |

It was just a generalization. I mean sure, there are a few roads around here that I can (and do) go out of my way to take because they are windy and have elevation changes. And sure, not every single area in the northeast is flat and straight. But most of it is.

Yes there are discounts but those prices (22k) usually reflect all dealer incentives. For instance you would need to be a new graduate AND military AND returning Scion customer (or whatever other incentives the dealer is offering). Keep in mind that some of those prices can also be based on the buyer also purchasing...so for instance $22k when the dealer also purchases "dent and scratch protection" or "lifetime car washes" or something that most people will never make a claim on.
However...there are definintely deals to be had...when I bought my BRZ last August I paid less than the MSRP of base FRS. At the time I bought I htink it was the number one reason (besides WR Blue) that most people were going with the BRZ. |

Yea. What I'm afraid is that the dealer will add Unnecessar ystuff to the car. Eg free lifetime car wash, lifetime wheel wash, lifetime oil change...

I got an out the door quote for one of the $22494 listed cars. Here it is:
MSRP 25,494 ePrice 22,494 Freight 895 PDI fee 425 Doc fee 200 MVA tag/title 279 MD 6% tax 1,457.59 TOTAL 25,750.59 PDI??-- this is the first time I have seen this fee listed out of all of the quotes I have gotten. MD has a max of $200 doc fee, but apparently you can add in other fees and they end up being close to the VA doc fees anyway. Also, that freight is $200 more than listed on the Scion website which is $755. |

A DOC fee of $200 is absurd but may be normal for your area. Technically you don't have to pay a penny of this. On the flip side, they don't have to sell you the car. The PDI fee is straight up bullshit. PDI means "pre delivery inspection" and you do not pay for this, it's their job. Lastly, $279 for Title and License? Lol, how about $90-$125 on average. You get one of those every year(registration) and you know it's around $70 or less, which leaves the rest for the Title which sure as hell doesn't make up the remaining $200 they are asking for. Titling is less than $30. Oh yea, freight charges vary by regional area, but I've never see it more than a $30 difference. They are adding even more here. Basically, they taking back some of the discount you thought they were giving you. I'd offer them $25000 based on the numbers they provided and removing the ones I suggested. $22,494 car base price $755 delivery(show them Scion website says $755 for your region). Allthough website also says Scion can make profit here...CAN not must. $200 doc fee(sounds like you live in a shitty state) 0$ for the PDI(tell them NO, it's your job to do this) $100 Title & Registration. 6% tax. $24961.94 is the total. Round it to an even $25k. That's about $2k off what a 2013 would have cost you at full MSRP. If they refuse to take the $25k offer, at the very least remove the PDI fee. $25,325ish would still be a good deal. Last edited by fistpoint; 10-24-2013 at 09:59 PM. |

Yeah, but think of the age range this car was targeted for, and how often they pay in cash. Also, look at all the threads of "I just got out of college, don't have a job yet, but I can afford the payments on this new impractical car" lol.
I do agree with you, though. Cash is the way to go |
