Big wheels and big tires with big steering angle under little fender wells is bad news waiting to happen. I didn't want to risk seriously damaging something so I decided to just bite the bullet and cut my losses.

I'm definitely bummed about it but when I look at my bank account, I suddenly don't feel so sad anymore lol
Interesting! What was your offset? I'm going to be running 9.5 +40 but on 245's. I wanted to go with 265's at first but thought I should play it safe first... The 265's look nice and perfect on yours, but I guess if you need room then it's too tight.

The Todoroki gives extra room, correct?

The wheels were the same as yours, just Mag Blue SLs(18x9.5 +40). With the spacers though, I was running a +16 offset.

The Todoroki's are 30mm wider so I was able to space the wheel out and have it further away from the frame rails; which I figured would be enough. The problem is the boxer engine; it's so wide that frame rails take up a lot of space underneath the front fenders.

Even with the spacers and calculating out the difference by getting extended LCAs, it still wouldn't be enough to clear the front fenders. I could MAYBE fit it with like -6 camber and 215/40s up front but even then it would be questionable and would cost be another $1,000 to get everything needed.

Too much money to spend on something that still probably wouldn't work; so I just said screw it and bought some temp wheels and started selling a bunch of stuff off haha

So without spacers, was it hitting something to begin with? Just trying to wrap my head around this as this is a fairly common size to run. Unless of course you're trying to achieve something other than just daily driving/occasional track days.

They'll fit perfectly fine without spacers or wide fenders.

My issue is that I have increased steering angle cause I drift this car. Stock steering angle wasn't enough so I made changes to get more and as the wheels turn more, they get closer to the frame rails as they hit full lock.

That's where I started running into problems.

Ah gotcha. That's the part I was missing!
Good luck! At least your bank account isn't suffering anymore!

I've been getting people asking a bunch about my steering wheel and stuff recently.

It's a Key!s Racing OEM replacement wheel; similar to the Prova/Cusco/DAMD wheels.

It allows you to retain your airbag and cruise control but the wheel is a bit smaller in overall diameter. The wheel is also a bit thicker and the quality of the material is MUCH better than OEM. It still feels super natural while drifting and having the wheel spin through my hands. It also is really comfortable on a day to day basis on my commute. I'd say that this wheel is the best of both worlds and worth every penny. I got it from the guys @Touge Factory. Awesome pricing and awesome service as always.

In regards to the emblem itself, it was custom made and swapped out with the scion emblem on the airbag. I think it ties it all together pretty well.

5x100 still.

If only the right 5x114 wheels came along, I'd be willing to run conversion adapters

I think if you convert to 5x114, the doors would open to more options...instead of waiting for "the one" lol
We've been running the 10mm conversion spacers, and we're able to try out a lot more wheels with various offsets.
17x9 +29'ish Advans are plentiful...

I know modified knuckle guys can't run much wider then 9" wheels due to the added angle.

I tried numerous times while I was deployed to find some used wheels in jp. I looked for blitz 03s, SSR minervas, Panas, model5s, and even VSKFs, but there wasn't really anything that would be a good starting point to rebuild. Everything decent would end up costing me like 3500 in the end.

I found out today I might get to ETS from the Army early and if it happens, I'll be back in California this fall. Once I get out there and get everything situated, I may try again.

I'm pretty set on some 17x8/9 or 17x9 squared bronze model5s. I'll happily run conversion spacers for them too lol.
