Hard Brake Line Part Numbers
Does anyone know what the driver side hard brake line part number is? I managed to shatter my flare wrench and round of the nut at the same time trying to install my stainless lines.
I contacted two dealerships and neither can properly identify the part number. They provided me with 26517CA000 & 26517CA010 but these go from the master cylinder to the ABS module. I'm looking for the hardline not the softline to confirm: Thanks in advance. |

Yeah, those are fairly easy to strip and you're usually SOL. Subaru might have it listed as the whole system together so it might not be possible to order that line by itself.
What I would do is just use a pair of vice grips and save the trouble of replacing. If you're only aiming to replace the stripped nut you can just cut off the brake line, replace nut (source from McMaster or something), and flare the end of the line. Nothing too complicated for a DIY. Could source something from a wrecked car. Check http://www.car-part.com/ or a local junkyard. If you're not lazy like me I would get some new lines and bend it to shape. Looks like pic shows the front brake lines so it's nothing that bad. If it's the driver side front then it's super easy. Front driver side hard brake line; the one that the soft line from the caliper connects to. It goes to the ABS unit and it maybe 6"-12" long.

It's tough to tell if that is the right part. But here is an alternate view of 26517CA000: I've contacted 3 dealerships and now Subaru of America; nobody can identify the part number with confidence. I ordered both of these and we'll see if they're correct but I doubt it. I expect to receive both lines that run to the master cylinder and ABS. |

Mystery solved boys; the part number you need is 26514CA010. Unfortunately it is every hard line in the front of the car.
Subaru apparently doesn't sell these individually for whatever reason and it costs between 108-150$ + shipping depending on where you buy it. Last edited by elitegunslinger; 07-13-2018 at 06:26 PM. |

I actually just had this same problem only I stripped both front flare nuts for the brake lines. I too panicked and wondered how to replace the whole thing until I found this magic tool: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's a stupid price for a simple vice grip but it works. Clean the threads with brake clean and a brush if they're not already clean, heat the nut as hot as you can get it without melting the fender liner, spray penetrating lubricant on the threads after they're hot, and then clamp it with the above wrench and it'll come right off. Save you some headache having to swap the whole line. Good luck! |
