Grimmspeed Exhaust Manifold (Header) Gaskets
Grimmspeed makes some exhaust manifold gaskets for our car which are much thicker than the OEM gaskets we can buy from Subaru. They look like they can seal better than stock. They appear to be the crush variety and metal rather than the pseudo ceramic/graphite/whatever it is the OEM gaskets are made of. Just a quick pic comparison a used up gasket to a new Grimmspeed one 20131020-SubaruOEM_Grimmspeed_HeaderGasket_HeadtoHead-002 by VictorN07, on Flickr 20131020-SubaruOEM_Grimmspeed_HeaderGasket_HeadtoHead-010 by VictorN07, on Flickr

Oil Cooler woes update!
Remember this? Quote:
I talked to my @PERRIN_Chris and he said the spacer in the Perrin kit was yay tall and I determined it was taller than the spacer included in the Racerparts Wholesale kit. After shaving down the thermostat edge, it will still hit the fuel line if I rotated the plate more. I didn't want any rubbing at all so I asked @PERRIN_Chris and he would sell me the spacer by itself! Awesome customer service. Wanted to post some pics of the two kits side by side 20131020-Perrin_RacerPartsWholesale_Spacer_HeadtoHead-002 by VictorN07, on Flickr The Perrin spacer is pretty; its nice and black and has the logo printed on it. The RacerParts Wholesale spacer is 20mm tall. The Perrin one is 25mm tall. The sandwich plate sits around the narrow raised portion on the RacerParts Wholesale spacer 20131020-Perrin_RacerPartsWholesale_Spacer_HeadtoHead-013 by VictorN07, on Flickr Despite the Perrin Spacer being 5mm taller, the hollow bolt is the same height 20131020-Perrin_RacerPartsWholesale_Spacer_HeadtoHead-007 by VictorN07, on Flickr I didn't get a picture of the bottom. D'oh! The Perrin spacer has two grooves for O-rings to seal against the engine block. There are two O-Rings to make the seal. The Racerparts Wholesale just has one large flat rubber gasket. I had a failbro moment; @PERRIN_Chris didn't send me the O-Rings. I am heartbroken. However Bro 2.0 @PERRIN_Mladen pulled through and got me the O-Rings, and they will come in time for the track event this weekend. Thanks man! High quality human right there. Here is the part installed. I can rotate the sandwich plate all around and it wont' hit. I love it. 20131020-Perrin_RacerPartsWholesale_Spacer_HeadtoHead-031 by VictorN07, on Flickr iPhone 5S has a spectacular camera too. These are just cropped. No processing. 20131020-Perrin_RacerPartsWholesale_Spacer_HeadtoHead-iPhone5S-044 by VictorN07, on Flickr 20131020-Perrin_RacerPartsWholesale_Spacer_HeadtoHead-iPhone5S-045 by VictorN07, on Flickr P.S. I still love you @PERRIN_Chris

A Dying Breed/Regular Maintenance
Another part of my install day was to replace my Perrin 2.5" HFC Front Pipe with.... another Perrin 2.5" HFC Front Pipe. Did you know that replacing your front pipe is part of your annual maintenance? I'm kidding. A while back I had a bung welded in my front pipe for a wideband O2 gauge Quote:
I took some photos to show how the front pipe ages. Mine has exactly one year and 17000 miles on it. I bought the headerback right when it was released. It turned blue from all the heat. Also mine doesn't even have the Perrin logo tack welded to it. A truly limited edition piece. Bought one of the first and got ended up with one of the last Thanks @Chris@Phastek for the assistance installing it! 20131020-PerrinHFCFrontPipeRedux-026 by VictorN07, on Flickr 20131020-PerrinHFCFrontPipeRedux-029 by VictorN07, on Flickr Nothing really has changed. Still the same quality part. Held up nicely. Doctor's Appointment
@Chris@Phastek and I were curious to see what numbers I was making using the latest Perrin tune (I think i'm on V10) as well as all the exhaust work I am doing. It was also great weather to strap her down and do a health check. It was probably about 75-80F outside with low humidity! Thank you cold front. I've had the kit installed since the beginning of March and have logged 10k miles on it. Vortech Supercharger with 9PSI 3.48" Pulley Freshly cleaned air filtre Perrin Tuned V10 P&L Motorsports EL HFC Coated Exhaust Manifold P&L Motorsports 2.5" Coated Overpipe V1 Perrin Performance 2.5" HFC Front Pipe Perrin Performance 2.5" Resonated Catback Stock fuel system (Injectors/pump) Stock Crank pulley Gates Black Belt Thanks to all for their support throughout my journey so far. @Chris@Phastek, @Rick@Vortech, @Brian@Vortech, @P&L Motorsports, @PERRIN_Jeff, @PERRIN_Chris, @PERRIN_Mladen, @Dezoris We did six pulls. I plotted three. So close to 200 torques! I would say Lola's doing just fine RunFile_005 and 006 are map4 RunFile_002 is map 3. I daily drive and track using this map. 20131020-FallDynoCheckup-012 by VictorN07, on Flickr 20131020-FallDynoCheckup-006-Edit by VictorN07, on Flickr

Great build! Looks like I'm going your route. Getting a vortech soon and also planning to get a homebrew oil cooler. Thanks for the heads up.

Track Day!!!
Still working on the rest of the media. First go at using a GoPro and Adobe Premiere Pro CC. I think it came out good overall. Lot's of room for improvement (as my instructor showed me when I let him have a proper go in my car) Love the very end. Looks fun, Victor... I've never got to run MSRH in a CCW direction... looks fun! Oh, and you definitely need a louder BOV. I could still hear the engine a little bit.

people said they could hear my car in the paddocks hahaha. Now that I tracked it and DD'd it with the BOV, I'm deciding if its something I want to keep.

It definitely doubles as an audible throttle position sensor... I could hear every time you lifted! In all seriousness, it did look like a fun track day. Hope you get a chance to drop by this weekend if you're not going to be at COTA or TWS.
