2014 Heads On A 2013

As the title states, has anyone tried to use newer heads on an older block? I have a 2013 that was affected by the recall and apparently the springs aren't the only thing that's garbage about the valvetrain. I don't want to risk a dropped valve or breaking a rocker arm, both of which should be solved with a 2014/2015 head. So are they backwards compatible?

The 14 and 15 will be completely compatible with the 13.

Not to hijack your thread, throw stones, or flame you but shouldn’t this be in the engine sub rather than engine swap?

I think you should post it in the cosmetic section since it is for show

Thanks. I work to much, so it's going to be a while. I just enjoy working on machines. I started the build to kill time, but it also has murdered my bank acount. Anyway hope this guy gets his heads straight.

If I'm doing head/valve work, its probably getting an aftermarket cam anyways to take advantage of a higher redline.

Was considering, I figured it fit here because its replacing half of an engine with non-stock parts. If any mod wants to move it, that's totally fair.

I can vouch for this as I have 2014 heads on my 2013. It was straight forward and everything is running just fine!

If you're buying your 2014 heads used, you may want to invest in new cam gears depending on the condition.. If the 2014 engine had metal shavings in it I wouldn't reuse the cam gears. You could try and clean them but it's not very simple!

the heads are the same
in 2014 they changed the rocker arms and the cams, but the heads are the same

from August 2016 (my2017) they changed the Cam Intake RH (the one that has the lobe for the fuel pump, and all the 16 valves, making them longer

MY17+ they changed again the code of the valves because they made them buffed for less friction
