Average snowfall in Caldwell is about 9" a year,( about 5 hamburgers tall) but I hear it gets really cold and slippery. Can't wait to find out.

I do want to build a "24 hours of Lemons" car. Police auction is coming up. A black and white crown Vic with a giant wing would be a perfect lemons car.

That sounds like a blast!
I have always wanted to get an old interceptor and do a demolition derby with it.

Well, only if you had asked your siblings as per @humfrz 's advice you could have saved yourself some doh..

If you use food as a measurement of snowfall, you may have an eating disorder -

Could have been worse, he could have said 5 burgers, 2 slush puppies and one MaccyD's thick shake... All to describe the type and depth of snow..

BTW, we've had the type of conditions that can lead to thick soup fog...

They had dozens of complications with the first one(including her nearly dying on the operating table from internal bleeding), and had sworn up and down for the full year afterwards one kid was going to be it.

I made the mistake of trying to open up a dialog with them again. The brake pad thread went better.

Some family just sucks.
My brother's new wife and her family are controlling, manipulative, and stuck up, and he basically sold his soul to them. She had a son before they met and she's pregnant with his child now. They recently imposed a "no social media" rule for their kids. Absolutely no pictures or even mention of their children, or that they have children, on any social media. As my brother put it "do not acknowledge my children's existence on facebook".

My mom was pretty broke up about it because she's been wanting grandchildren for ages and all her friends and family talk about and share grandchildren pictures all the time. Despite that, she tried her best and really only made a couple of tiny, obscure mentions that my brother was able to pinpoint.

He went on a tirade against my parents and has basically written us off. He's talking to my sister and me again, but I don't think he's talking to our parents and I have no clue if they will resolve it. I personally don't like kids, so if this gets me uninvited to insufferable family events I couldn't care less, but I'm pretty upset with how he's treated our mom.

So you're right, some family just sucks.

He works in fraud and is apparently doing this to protect their privacy. I did google it to try and understand his point, and while the articles I read kinda made sense, it's not exactly worth this kind of paranoia. Basically, the fear is that someone will use the information to steal his kids' identities in the future. But what criminal is going to file away the birth date posted on facebook and wait 18 years to cash in? The articles I read said this was basically the danger of putting that information out there, but facebook hasn't even been around long enough for this to happen, so as far I can tell it's fearmongering and a mountain of paranoia with no real proof.

The problem is you lose control of data if you put it online. Where you could show some family pictures of your kids before and give them copies, social media is like making infinite copies and dropping it on a street corner along with all your identifying information. With today's outrage culture, you never really know when someone is going to to make a big deal of you fishing as a kid or something dumb.

Also, maybe the parents don't want to be judged by potential employers as conflicted because they also have kids to deal with.

I get it, but not talking to family is a bit of an extreme reaction.

Edit, also what nevermore said.

Meh I mean now-a-days you're not even really liable for that stuff, even though it's a pain in the ass if it happens. I do prefer not to use my real name on the internet, hence why I don't have a Facebook (but do have other social media). I'm sure anyone who looks hard enough could figure out who I am though. Plus with facial recognition I mean even if you walk into the mall, a casino, the airport, etc... they know who you are. So privacy is a thing of the past really. I would love to be able to get it back but that ship has sailed. When we can morph our DNA or something then we go back to the world where if something gets messed up (your own fault or not) you move 11mi to the next town and start again with a clean slate.
