Pretty sure it's a Daimler chassis and drivetrain (Mercedes). A lot of the design work being done at the time was pushing things and polarized people more, while playing big on history: you loved it, or you hated it. Nothing between. There was a time I thought I wanted to do car design. Learned pretty quickly I didn't by watching the guy that did this. I don't think he slept, always drawing cars.
