^^This. JDL header and stock all the way back sounds good at WOT and is very nice for daily driving at low rpm. I have their new EL header and a Greddy Sp Elite axle back. I love the sound as it is a bit more aggressive at WOT but still very tame for my daily needs. I would rec this setup to anyone with the EL or UEL.

Heres what I'm looking at, tell me what you guys think(sorry to thread jack)... Catted FT86 UEL, Invidia Resonated FP, Blitz Ti Catback... I mostly want a really deep rumble at idle, no drone and a good sound at WOT.. Thoughts ?

Didn't mean to bring up an old thread but a quick google search brought me here. My current setup too loud to daily to work into a professional environment haha.. for a weekend racecar it sounds amazing.

Current setup Revworks UEL, Motive OP, Motive catted FP, and Q300 catback all 2.5" size. So my options are to change the FP to stock or change catback to stock, which one would reduce sound? Would a stock catback be much of a detriment in power?

You have a catted front pipe and a Q300 and it's still too loud? I dunno man...that's probably about as quiet as it's gonna get unless you go stock catback.

Yes don't get me wrong I love the sound with the full exhaust setup. Sounds amazing you can really hear the UEL. I choose the Q300 as it's the quietest aftermarket exhaust. It's quiet during idle and on the interstate, sounds amazing when i step on it. Just don't want to drive to work everyday like that haha.

Trying to see if I can quiet it down with stock cat back without loosing power.

yeah this concerns me as well, i have a perrin 2.5 in resonated catback, and the q300 is suppose to be quieter than the perrin. My guess is the FP/OP combo thats causing the extra noise.

hopefully it will be tolerable, if not, the perrin's going up for sale.

I will have OFH, Perrin 2.5 resonated, and stock everything else, praying to the exhaust gods that it will not be neighbor waking, ear bleeding, baby scaring noise making machine.

Just to clarify for you, I'm running a UEL Header with stock catback and i'm making great power. The Catback is one of the least power related items on this car, especially if you're keeping it NA. I would try swapping the stock catback back on and keeping the other components of the OP and FP and see how it sounds for you. You'll lose 2hp if that lol...

One of the problems you will run into is that once you swap out your header to a better one, it will amplify the rest of the exhaust 1.5x-2x louder. The manageable Perrin exhaust will probably become louder than you probably want.

I'll try the stock catback next. I previously had just the UEL and stock header back and sounds levels were ok. It's when I went full exhaust it got too loud.

This might be tolerable with having stock OP and FP. At least it was for me with the Q300. The Perrin resonated could be similar. A bit loud at cold start and then fine afterwards. The tune also helped.

do the tune mods for quiet start.

even if you just set the post start timing from -15 to -4 and disable cel code p 050b should be enough see tuje treaks link below

there was an ongoing debate over if its bad to tune down the startup rpms, is it bad to do so? there has to be some purpose to have such a loud cold start no?

thanks.

the purpose of the startup phase is to heat up cats especially primary cat in header for emmissions purposes. To do this engine is set to run rich (offset maf scaling, high rpm and very retarded ignition timing.

oil/coolant take about 10 minutes to reach operating temps.

I have OFH, stock everything else.
Apart from cold start, nothing different from stock, sound wise.
