Let's also examine the evolution of the EL JDL headers:

4-1 EL Header

***WRONG INFO: THERE IS NO OLD AND NEW HEADER. THIS PIC IS AN OPTICAL ILLUSION. SEE THE CONVERSATION THAT FOLLOWS*** 4-2-1 EL Header (old)...there is an equal length to each stage of the runners.

4-2-1 EL Header (new)...there are longer runners with a merging of the pipes to a single pipe at the very end.

I think it is worth it to describe these headers better. The Ace is not a 4-2-1 header. As I said above, it is a 4-2 header, which works with their 2-1 overpipes, and that overpipe varies, such that the 150/250/350 progressively adds more length to the two pipes before they merge.

The JDL header is maximizing the runner length as much as it can for the limits of a 4-2-1 header by merging to a single exit at the last possible inch. (Estimated from the pictures) The JDL header merges about 4-6 inches sooner than the Ace 150, which merges about 4-6 inches sooner than the 250, which merges about 4-6 inches sooner than the 350. Also, the Ace header has 4 pipes for three-quarters or more of its length, where the JDL has 4 pipes for about one-half its length.

My guess is that we could plot the differences on a dyno between the 150/250/350 and extrapolate that the JDL would be equivalent to a 50 in the lineup, such that JDL50/Ace150/Ace250/Ace350 would follow like so. With that said, if your setup was ideal for the 150 over say the 350 then the JDL setup could also be ideal, but if the 350 was already better than the 150 than the 350 will be even that much more better than the JDL.
I don't see any results just pictures. You mind sharing?

I don't have dyno graphs to compare. I was only speculating based on the data we do have.

There is only 1 version of the 4-2-1 EL Header. Although it is not apparent in the photo, that cerakoted header has its merge right at the exit to the overpipe, just as the uncoated header below that (that was the prototype).

My 4-2-1 header:

My 4-2-1 header:
So you are saying JDL never produced this header from the picture I refer to as the old 4-2-1 header? You are saying it was just a prototype that was never released? If this isn't what you meant than I am confused as to what you are trying to say. Or are you saying the picture is an optical illusion because the other merger pipe is visually superimposed on the other, so it can't be seen?

The photo of the old (cerakoted) header is an optical illusion; Because of the way the merge collector by the overripe flange is positioned relative to the angle of the photo, you can't actually see the final merge. Looking underneath the header from a different angle, you can see it.

Gotcha, thanks for clearing that up.

Look forward to results! Are you picking up an overpipe as well? I have the stock OP on my JDL 4-2-1 setup currently, but I'm wondering whether or not I should pick up an aftermarket unit in the spring.

I've heard from many that I've made a "huge" mistake by keeping the stock OP paired with my header and that I'm losing precious ponies... I'm still going to keep my stock FP in place however.

Don't plan to. Going to talk with my tuner. It's not worth 5-10 whp

4-2-1 in and much prefer it over my old tomie UEL. Still using my old tune so it's not optimized for the new header. But the car just runs much better and feels even smoother. Sounds better to. I will see if and when I can get a Dyno done on my setup.
