So will you offer a down pipe without the first cat connecting to the longer highflow cat you mention. I am flashing back to the 1zz in the MR2spyder where it was mandatory to get rid of the "precats".

I deal daily driver setup IMHO would be factory manifold, after market downpipe to aftermarket highflow cat, with the +10% torque boost over the powerband and probably longer long term stress on the pistons.

Not sure what you're asking but it sounds like you might be confused on cat location and you want to know if there are options regarding cats.
There are 2 cats - the first is in the exhaust manifold and the second in the downpipe. They said they'll be offering both a header with and without a high flow cat. They also said they could do a downpipe for you without a high flow cat but you'd save 2 lbs and wouldn't gain any power. So yes you can have your Whopper any way you like it

I guess I thought the first cat was separate from the manifold, with past toyota engines these have been fairly big HP robbers. But I found the other thread with the header, looks very promising.

But this is a Subaru engine so you have to relate most things to subarus I stead of toyotas

Disclaimer: I no zilch about the fa20 valve train but I'm assuming hydraulic lifters are used.
I also assume hydro lifters are used. It would be sick to have shim/bucket design though... would make for a really high rev head setup.

If I wanted to have the maintenance intervals of a Ducati, I'd buy a Ducati

Ducati maintenance intervals are 15k step up from the previous 7.5k. Oil changes are during those same intervals too

Most toyotas use a shim/bucket setup. My SR20 uses a shimmed/rocker arm setup as well, and I've never had to do any maintenance on it at all. Ever. No hyrdraulics at all.

Need I mention how common lifter failures are in high mileage subarus?

As another Aussie/RHD potential customer, I also believe a one piece is better than 2 piece downpipe if it doesnt mean fitting is a major PITA. I havent been under one of these things yet so not entirely familiar with the exhaust set up but every additional flange is another gasket that can eventually fail.

Also Jason, are there any advantages to running the system catless from a performance and weight perspective? I'm sure the results between the two have been posted somewhere on the forum but im going crazy admist the hundreds of ft86 tabs i have up in my browser haha.

Is there a difference in sound/performance between the original downpipe design and the new downpipe/overpipe piece?

I'm also guessing the only thing available to buy now is the downpipe/overpipe piece, not the original downpipe only?

Thanks, I had seen it on the site and saw the Dynos for both pieces was the same. So now that you confirmed it is available for sale either/or, is there any difference in sound/performance?

No idea. The dynos are from the part without the overpipe generally.
