Perhaps it was ordered in a standard size, then re-barreled. It is a pretty common practice.

Only way to know for sure is to take the wheels off and measure.

works only offers the offsets in the catalog but since these are 3 piece wheels he might have relipped with different lips to change specs

They are different lips. The only step lip vs xx they offer are for Porsche which are the Work Brombacher.

You know, it's simple to correct the first post... plus, the non-standard barrel of these wheels makes it even more important to have the correct spec.

Isn't that the whole point of this forum? To discuss and share car setups that we can all benefit from... and incorrect info doesn't do any of us favors.

What if you wanted a similar set of wheels, go out and buy it according to this post, only to find out that it doesn't even come close to the fitment shown here?

But it's okay. By your account, I'm just someone pissed off at his choice of wheels on his car.

FWIW I worked in the car industry for 12+ years, most of which was spent at a Japanese wheel manufacturer/importer. I'm just trying to share correct info.

working in the industry for so long you would probably realize that companies change the sizes available.... or they could have been rebarrelled (considering step lip could be 17inch face with new 18 inch lip).. or ordered to the MM, which Work Wheels allows you to do on certain wheels..
the centercaps on these makes me think they are older produced vsxx.. not ordered new (OP correct me if im wrong).
chill out.

Yes, and I've been selling VS-XX's for as long as they've been officially available in the US... and they have never been able to be ordered in 1mm increments.

That's my point... the wheel specs are misleading and incorrect if rebarrelled. VS-XX never had step lip.

I could just shut up, and next time someone will just perpetuate the confusion.

I don't think you guys understand what I am trying to say: these are not normal VS-XX wheels.

The VS-XX shares virtually the same design as the Brombacher line of wheels... and even vendors will sell some wheels as "VS-XX" if you mix/match the disk with the barrel:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=778161
(this set is Brombacher barrel/step lip, with regular VS-XX disk.

Brombacher has 9J+18 and 10J+22 in 18".... but the disk is available only in 5x130 bolt pattern.

The center cap of the OP's wheels are identical to what Vivid Racing posted for sale on the M3 forum (5x120mm), so it seems you can get Brombacher step lip barrel with VS-XX center disk.

I'm sure if this is all useless info, someone else will tell me to shut up.

Correction:

These are Brombacher "Special Edition" wheels. See the last few pictures in the gallery:

http://workwheelsusa.com/product.php...y=38&wheel=104

Edit 2:

The wheels seem to be a custom rebarrel from 17" to 18". The Special Editions were not offered in 5x100 previously.

Either way, the offset is not as-listed according to Work catalog.

maybe but when I buy the wheels was recorded vs-xx and not Brombacher .. And I do not understand why the wheels have increased from 17'' to 18''. Even when it is hard to trace the history of these wheels ...

Because the wheels used to be 17" VS-XX, rebarrelled with step lip to 18" size.

So, your offsets will not be same as what's offered in the catalog.
