Why does every 86 owner feel entitled to a "review"?

So it seems, more than any other vehicle on the road today, 86 owners LOVE to post "reviews"...

They list their extensive vehicle ownership and go on and on about this and that. For christ's sake the front page news article for the last month is some guy who had a Porsche and BMW before his 86, as if that means something.

I love my car but the circle jerk mentality is really on the next level with this vehicle.

What do you think?

I dont read any of their reviews because to me its irrelevant, I can form my own opinion of my car. I the only reviews I will watch, and with a grain of salt, is from professionals and even then some you can tell have a bias towards/against the twin.

Well essentially it's a BRAND NEW car... I am sure a lot of reviews were being had with the G35 Coupe and etc. It's just helpful to know what others think of the car and the reason why. Most of us can't afford a 50k+ car or get a new $25k every 3-5 years so this $25k+ car is going to be a long term plan in transportation. I know I keep cars for 10+ years. The BRZ is my second car ever, my first I bought new was a 2002 Grand Prix GTP.

People do review the car a lot - I agree, but everyone has a different POV. SubaruWRXfan actually helped me make my final decision on the car.

My assumption is that they wanted others to know that all the press positive reviews were not paid off B.S. and the car actually is what others are saying: Awesome.

I've yet to post a written review.... BUT, I've made dozens of verbal reviews to all those who've stopped me at various places, in & out of state, to ask about my car.

While I agree that there is an abundant of reviews being posted on a daily basis, it caters to those who are in the process of purchasing the car. Believe it or not, reviews from the owners have a lot of influence to some.

i agree with chee-hu. if i'm in the market for a new car, i always visit the forums besides reading the car magazine/expert reviews. i'd like to see what actual owners have to say about the vehicle they own. by listing what they've owned in the past, or by stating that this is their 'first car ever' vs. '10th sports car', it gives me an idea about what the reviewer/owner's perspective is. who knows - you may have owned a BMW and are wondering how the twins handle and feel in comparison.

knowing that everyone has a different opinion, you can still weed out certain general patterns, which all add up to help make an informed decision.

so, question to the OP - if you wanted to buy a new car and was doing some research on it, would it help you more to read the experiences of 1 owner, or 100 owners?

i also think that it's beneficial to owners to see whether other owners have shared the same experiences or issues. without the individual reviews and threads, you'd be wondering whether you're the only one who has that cricket noise coming from your engine.

I think they're contributing more to this forum than your above comment is.

Perhaps the OP was trying to be cool insulting those who have taken the time to write up a review. Give him a break, fellas.

Someone who has owned expensive sports cars in the past is in a position to explain to others how this budget friendly car compares to such vehicles. Folks who don't have a budget to live with a very expensive car can learn from someone who has that, while inexpensive, the car is just as brilliant to own as one twice its price tag. Makes perfect sense to me. Just because there have been numerous such reviews only demonstrates the car is worth getting excited about and people want to talk about it.
