I can understand all of those!!! I COMPLETELY understand people who want or NEED CARB certification and understand their excitement.

Anyone that falls under the description above does not need to answer, I understand where you are coming from.

This questions is for people who can choose anyone of the options available (not limited to this options because of CARB).
For all other people please see question below.

Honestly and genuinely I would like to know, why are you impressed with 249 WHP and 180 WTQ @ 9 psi (considering other kits are pushing more)?

Please not a flame war, not a TC vs. SC, I genuinely want to hear from you guys why are those numbers impressive and/or why would those numbers make you choose this kit over the other options.
well in california the main thing that is necessary now especially with STAR smog is CARB legality... the last thing i want is some cop to see some fat gt30 turbo with all this intercooler piping and a cop to go HMMMMM....

also i have a turbo car, i have a gnarly ass 240 with over 300whp and it spools by 2500. now when the boost comes on its violent and i can easily just power over and lock up my diff without even clutch kicking... but its built for that purpose...

now another 90-100 hp with the same powerband as the stock motor, it feels like a v6 and retains the balance of the car... i know that in a turn i can push the car and hang at that "hook point" where the car is just about to break loose and know that im not going to get some sudden surge of torque and spin out if i add any more throttle exiting the corner...

the car feels so balanced and there isnt too much weight added, hell thats what i like the most, the car still feels proper.

if i really wanna go fast i hop into my 240 and can go roast tires and suck gas... but with slightly improved gas mileage, improved linear power delivery and CARB legality?!?!? how can you say no... it is the perfect set up...

now if you live outside of cali and want to push the limits of the axles/transmission and dont care about reliability or mpg... go gt35 with a fat set of injectors and see how much you can put down, but hope the tranny doesnt explode.

Thanks for answering. I specifically said in my post if you NEED CARB, the question was not for you, as any other kit is out of question

Also, I don't plan to build a tranny exploding monster, I DO care about reliability and mpg and will do fine with a modest TC kit with linear power delivery. But again, not trying to argue, everyone has their likes and requirements. Just sharing a different view. :happy0180:

I don't post much on the forums, I like to lurk, but just to be sure.......
I bought the vortech kit through Perrin when it was first released and ive had it installed on the car for about a month now. I know you (Brian) have said that anyone that has bought the kit previously will "be take care of" by Vortech. My question is... Does that include customers that have bought the kit through other Vendors, like myself who bought it through Perrin?

At some point we may have this. It is still in early development.

To sum it up, if you know what your doing (im a registered 2m tech) solder will always be better, if you don't, crimp, Toyota Uses crimping because its the cheaper faster way, any time you crimp your creating micro fractures, like so many of your posts I've read, once again your reasoning is flawed.

I've seen many late model toyota looms where the ground junctions are fused. Not soldered or crimped. I'd say that would cost more than both soldering or cimping

Just a heads up i had to call Vortech and get an RA# to ship the blower back to them. You are responsible for all shipping charges and it takes them about 2-3 days to send it back to you... Call this number to get your RA#- 800-247-0226
The blower weight is about 20-22 pounds depending how well you pack it. Shipping from Florida is $156.13 that's only three day. I've calculated shipping back to be more as i want it back immediately since my car will be down for 2 weeks.
I'm kinda pissed off i received the kit last Friday(March 15th) and it was shipped directly from Vortech. I placed my order in late January. I don't understand why they shipped out the blower knowing it was going to be changed a week later.

That's the shop build thread on my car.

The cost goes up when you add insurance. That's why the cost of mine is on the high side.

No problem man. Just trying to save ya some money. That sucks that they are making you pay shipping after receiving the kit recently. Kinda ****ish...

Now that's rediculous, having the pay shipping there is understandable, but to pay return shipping is rediculous. I'm in the same boat as you, I have to ship mine back from Georgia but I haven't checked shipping rates yet. Either way I will be raising hell about the return charges, its not our fault they decided to sell us an inferior product just because we ordered it first.
