K&N vs TRD drop in air filter

Hello, I looked around and can't find anything between the two! I know the TRD cost more but I'm getting a really good deal one. Trying to figure out which was better long run?

And links to previous post will be great thanks

PS I have a 15 FRS, stg 2 e85 via oft and borla exhaust if that makes any difference.

Cheers mates!

They are both oiled, cleanable filters of what seems to be very similar construction. I'd say get the cheaper one and clean it when you're scheduled to replace the stock one.

Do both of these filters fit the stock air box as well as the TRD air box? This is something I've been curious about for a while.

Thanks guys! I didn't think it was too much different just double checking to see if one was maybe made of better material or anything like that.

And I'm not 100% sure but I believe both the filters fit. Stock and TRD I think, insert is the same.

The TRD airbox / air intake has it's own air filter. Probably double the size of a factory airbox.

There is a TRD replacement filter that's made for the stock airbox, and a separate TRD filter that's made specifically for the TRD air intake.

Thank you. I suspect it's a reading comprehension problem on my part. Seems like neither company wants to make mention of the other's product. I bargained for the TRD cold air box when I bought my car and I've always been curious if K&N made a filter for it. They seem really similar anyway but I'd like to have the option to buy the K&N unit.

There is a part number and some general discussion in there. Maybe you could cross reference and find a different option?
