I've given up; we're putting mum into a nursing home. She is now requiring 24 hour supervision. I am worried each time I leave the house, regardless for how little time, that I will come home to find her sprawled on the floor. Being woken 3-4 times a night to assist her going to the bathroom is tiring me out but given the wife still works it is unfair on her. Mum is losing the use of her legs (Parkinson's) and watching her try to walk is painful. She tries to walk, with the help of a wheeled frame, but the signal just isn't get through. Severe spine curvature, becoming locked in. And watching the dementia take a little of her each day makes me cry.
I feel bad that she's going into a home but I don't feel guilty.
I am not suggesting there is anything unique here but by f*ck this old age thing is horrible.
On the bright side it means I won't be the one to find her no longer with us, I will just get the phone call.

That's a lot. You and your wife will get through it. I pray your mom is at peace through this process. :/

You can only do what you can do, still have to live your life too. I watched my dad struggle with this when his mom went into a home, but after a little bit he realized there was nothing else that could be done and overall it was better since it was more socialization and activities than just spending time with him.

Really sorry to hear this.

Unfortunately I think it's the "right" thing to do. My grandparents hated being moved into a care facility the final 8-9 years of their lives but it was for the best.

Constant round the clock care, medicine scheduling, and emergency support helped my parents and my aunt and uncle quite a bit during that time.

So I have a very weird question for somebody in Phoenix Arizona,
my local newspaper has an article about the very high temperature in Phoenix.
I have on dude in the comments that the media is lying, everything is fake news.
So I've posted a picture of the local weather report showing it's around 109°F (43°C).
That's also fake news, he claims it's only 25°C ( 77°F ).

So can somebody post a picture of his thermometer in Phoenix AZ, many thanks.
(He's probably going to claim it's photoshopped, but worth a try)

Lol I'm in Maryland and it's over 85°F. Been like 90+ and humid AF all week until today.

You could try sending this person to Weather Underground, which reports individual weather station data, and includes history for each one.

Exercise in futility. More effective trying to hold back the North Sea with a featherduster.

Arguing on the internet has been exhaustively documented. No need to amend it.

I have an ex that lives in Phoenix. And no, I am not going to text her for a picture of her thermometer.
