REVIEW: Joey the mechanic in South San Francisco
MODS: Please let me know if there's a way we can keep a thread like this alive. I'm not considering this a commercial post, because I'm not affiliated with the shop at all. I am a customer just like anyone else. I believe this thread will be a very valuable asset to the community. A similar thread exists on the Honda S2000 forums (s2ki), and it lives as a review and "vouch" thread.
I'd like to spread the word about Joey. He is a highly competent mechanic located in South San Francisco. Every mechanic at Joey's shop will treat your car like it is their own, and allow you to follow along with the process to make sure things are done to your specifications. I drive 35 minutes, and across a bridge just to go to his shop. Joey and his team of certified mechanics open their doors one night a week for a nice little underground scene, where car enthusiasts can gather, and get their cars modded, tires mounted, or have basic maintenance performed. This late night timing is extremely rare, and works very well for the person who has a 9-5 job, who doesn't want to take time off work. His pricing is so far below the market rate, that you simply would be foolish to go anywhere else. Of course, he also has regular business hours, but the real stuff happens late at night. He's the most honest and thorough mechanic I've ever interacted with. We made a website about his shop, which can be seen below. You can contact him to get a quote by text or email, through the contact means listed. http://www.alpinespeedstars.com/service ============== Christopher began the BRZ/FRS touch down at Joey's tonight, by having coilovers installed on his beautiful BRZ. |

Nice try, Joey.
--- I've actually been looking for a good mechanic/shop, so I appreciate the write-up. Thanks!

Casey is a bad mother fucker. Just don't be freaked out when he busts out a horse head...
After last night, I'm certain Joey do almost anything. The whole vibe about the place is awesome and the prices are ridic. If some forum members wanna try to get some install mini meets going going, I already have a bunch of shit on order and he'll most likely accommodate. Shit was popping last night - 4 s2ks, NSX, dodge hemi, mazdaspeed 3, wrx - and that's just when I rolled through. I think I found my new install shop for stuff I can't do at home or would just take me too long. Last edited by matchamochi; 03-07-2013 at 06:13 PM. |

The culture and atmosphere you experienced at Joey's shop this Wednesday is what I have come to appreciate and expect every time I go there. There's always good people and good times. Joey, Ben, Mike, and Raj always get the job done. The work they did on my frozen bearing was brilliant. Most shops would have given up and ordered a new knuckle, or charged more than the original quote. Instead I got good honest work for a fair price. This is what keeps me coming back. Also, the infamous Touge Horse has been known to make appearances... And here's the RE-EDIT of the Touge Horse confrontation at Joey's shop.
Just a little display of the shop, a BRZ on the racks, and a certain equine spirit. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NC0fqh5Occ"]The Legend of the Touge Horse - Horsin' Around at Westborough Arco - RE-EDIT - YouTube[/ame] |
