That child seat doesn't look even close to the correct angle.

You might be better off getting the front airbag disabled, putting the kid seat in the front then put the wife in the back.

You could also gain a few inches by not using the base.

This car was off the radar until they moved to front facing.

How much do those seats weigh?
Don't modern cars disable the airbags anyways when there is say, less than 60-70lbs in the front passenger seat?

They do, but it's not reliable. You buy a bypass switch/button which turns it off for sure (and then the weight thing is a backup in case something goes wrong).

Remember, the airbag comes out at 200km/hr and is almost certain death for an infant in a rear facing. You're not supposed to put them in the front period, but with 2 seaters sometimes you have no choice (boxter/cayman/430, etc)

I can tell you that my FR-S enabled the airbag and set off the seat belt alarm when I placed my camera bag (weighing in at 3 lbs) in it. See my owner journal entry here for details.
