maybe if the brake lines were QD lol.

is it possible? sure. to say it's the same as a partial coat of paint or exhaust is disingenuous.

another bit - what are the projected volumes of the PP compared to a run of, what, a 1,000 RS1s?

Who knows. The PP is an OPTION not a production car.

OK good news! While researching if Subaru does port installed options (they use the same program as Toyota by the way) I discovered that apparently the BRZ is built in Lafayette Indiana! Strange, since when I was in the Lafayette plant a couple of months back they did not seem to be building any at that point.

I checked a few 2017 BRZ for sale and the Vin starts with J for being built in Japan.

LOL of course it does! They are not made here. Somebody just used a poor picture for the caption. I should have turned on my sarcasm/irony font I guess.

On a separate note I'm seeing 10 more 2017 listed than when I checked this weekend.

Probably even more on the lots that just are not entered into the sites yet as well.

I think they just probably grabbed a random picture of a Subaru assembly line. I'd be surprised if they actually started building them here since nearly every part is manufactured in Japan and since it is such a relatively low volume car.

Edit: I just saw your later post... I was thinking, "Surely he is being sarcastic? Maybe not... OK, I'll post it anyway."
