Ridiculous, how? It's annoying and its the only brand new car that I've seen making an annoying noise like this, its not just a mechanical sound....its annoying and sounds like a car with over 100k miles would have.

What kind of exhaust did you get? lol

Don't know if it helps, but i noticed that when the car starts the rpm at idle is over 1k and if you let it sit for a minute it "stabilizes". So far its been like a month I've been doing this most of the time and i rarely ever hear the chirpping, if any it's extremely low and i have to look for it to notice it.

Should be easy to figure out. Just overlay their exhaust sound over high-pitched squealing and see if they cancel out

Which gave me an idea for a TSB "solution". Produce the sound via in-car speakers that cancels out the noise

What companies do you and Chewie work for? This I'd be very curious to know as I'd like to do a little research.

It sounds like the 2 of you a) Don't work for a publicly traded corporation or b) Found the only 2 companies reporting to Wall Street that don't have to play by the same rules.

So you admit to trolling now?

Why don't you pack your shit and stay on the other FR-S forum where you can go pat yourself on the back about all the idiots here? That forum could use the extra traffic anyway.

You have clearly stated that the noise does not bother you, so why in the hell are you still posting in the thread?

I'm at least attempting to persuade people to do something about it, if nothing more than to make an official note about it with their local dealers. That way in the future if it ever does get addressed past peoples standard tiny warranty time, it might be covered because it was noted prior to the expiration.

You seem to be doing the exact opposite by attempting to convince people to do nothing about it, even though you don't care either way.
.
.
.
p.s. "kids"...sure, only children complain about noises. I'm willing to bet you're well under 30, which IMO is still pretty much a kid(no offense to those that are, break 30 and you'll agree).

I know Local people with more miles that don't get the chirps. I can live with it but to a person who can hear a baby cry thru 8 walls and 2 floors it's annoying. Also I tend not to listen to music so I hear all the little things
Thanks for that and the other posts with higher km.
So we can be pretty sure this isn't going to resolve itself by increasing the clearance and self healing.

With 80.51% reporting this noise from 431 votes means 347 on this thread alone have this problem.

Does anyone know how to set up a petition that can be sent to Toyota, Scion and Subaru so that they can't ignore this problem?
They would be well aware how easy it would then be to take that to the press and organise a class action.

FWIW I'm pressing the issue for the reasons stated in the last page or two. If I'm paying 26k of my hard earned money, I expect a car that doesn't sound like my friend's '89 Civic, and I don't think that's too much to ask.
