I took the safe route. I had a daughter diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 18 months old, and a son with autism, so I stayed in my boring, unrewarding but secure government job with good benefits. I often wish I had taken more chances. |

Does your wife have a steady job (outside of the home)?
Wife has a steady job and actually makes more than me. I have no problems with that what so ever lol What kind of work are you doing now? Currently working as a Quality Engineer. Basically a lot of paperwork, reviewing and signing off stuff, dealing with customer complaints, etc. I took the job after getting laid off as a Mechanical Engineer. I'm not necessarily good at it, nor do I enjoy it, but it was something I knew how to do and I guess they couldn't find anybody better? Do you live in an area where there is a demand for your skills? I both do and don't. Lots of demand for MEs where I live, but I don't have the right background. Lots of industrial and construction type of stuff around, but my background is mostly on R&D, product development and small scale manufacturing. How long is this contracted job for (initial contract)? 6 mos with possibility for extension. They were waffling a bit when I asked about any chance for a permanent position. What kind of work is involved with that contracted job? Pretty much what I used to do: a lot of design work for manufacturing tooling and fixturing, setting them up and trouble shooting, etc. Would you have to relocate? Nope. Actually same commute, just one exit over. Come back? Don't know if I'd want to come back to my current. Definitely not as a QE, but maybe as an ME (I already know they need some help, they are just too cheap to admit it). Quote:

This is what I'm afraid of, but completely see where you're coming from. Seems a bit selfish and I feel like I'm taking advantage of my wife for being so supportive. In the end, work is a "means to an end". I work to have money and do fun things with it ie be with family, car parts, trackdays, etc. Basically have to make a decision by Monday, so I got a lot of thinking to do over the weekend. Thanks guys for all the input! |

Anyone fitted BRZ or 86 front bumper into WRX (Current model)? I need to pick up new front bumper from local seller and just wondering if my wife's WRX can put the bumper in the car to drop it off at the shop.

Yep, I agree with your thinking of just sticking with it and keep looking. Why? Because you say your pay is OK and you get along well with your boss and co-workers. As ol @Tcoat eluded to, those are very important points to job satisfaction. humfrz |

I don't know why, but this video always cracks me up. Just the juxtaposition of "fast car slow" and "slow car fast" lol

For some reason, I read this as the British version of "fitted" as in installing an 86 bumper on a WRX. How was that even going to work? |

Probably as ugly as the rest of it. A dealer is selling a car without an air bag? |

My best guess would be that they're trying to offload it as-is with the disclaimer that it was just traded prior to figuring out how much it would cost to fix everything that is broken / missing / parted out.
