So this happened tonight...
How bad is this? Think the insurance company will cover this? This is isn't at my fault. It's on the other driver btw. Just curious what others think based off the extent of the damage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Unless they total it, why wouldn't insurance cover you?

That's what I was meaning unless they decide to "total" this. It's def covered. I'm just curious what cost will be based off anyone who has experienced this type of damage before. I'll be getting an estimate in the next couple of days

That's looking like $3000 minimum.
And they might not replace your aftermarket tail light. Rear bumper cover alone is ~$800 painted. New rear quarter panel, welding, body work, glaze, primer, repaint. And that's assuming no damage to the trunk lid. |

Oh, that IS ugly ...........
I hope you and any passengers are OK ..... It looks to me, like the insurance company will fix it (not total it). What ran into you ...... a jacked up pick-up truck ...... ?? I'd estimate between $3-5,000 to fix it. humfrz |

Damage to the trunk indeed.
And yea it was a lifted suburban that decided to eat my rear for dinner. I'm well from this ordeal and luckily it wasn't any worse than what it is. No passengers thankfully. I was projecting a cost of that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It's not in the 'total it' range, but there's going to be a decent amount of work making sure the trunk seals properly. I'm not sure the best method to test this, since you probably don't want to hit new paint with a pressure washer, but you do want to make sure they get that trunk to seal.

Fortunately enough no airbags deployed but still a bummer. Hoping it's nothing major. It isn't pretty though

Heh, happened to me a year ago. https://i.imgur.com/O2oQRHx.jpg
I got off after work and there it was, didn't leave a note or anything. Luckily my trunk was fine only the bumper and quarter panel and slight front bumper (smashed me into the front gate). Can't remember what my quote was, sorry. Also, my insurance adjuster did say that since my aftermarket tail lights (I had them on for 2 months) were damaged they'd either try to get the same part or write me a check for what it's worth. Was one of the first things I asked, so gives me a peace of mind to get aftermarket parts. EDIT Found my estimate by going to my insurance website. My damage was: Front Bumper, Passenger Quarter Panel, Passenger Tail light, Rear Bumper Estimate was $3,597 |

Ahh thanks for the rough estimation, yea very similar damages I see here. Unfortunately my trunk was affected by the damage and also the rear quarter is crunched in more. ={ And it is only a factory tail however it started to have the condensation issue along with it. So glad that will resolve that issue. |

My factory tails had condensation issues but my service rep was cool and noticed it before me so he changed them out under warranty. Depending on where you take to fix your car, ask them and insurance agent to see if you can change to aftermarket tails and maybe pay the difference. It could also be cheaper and both sides want to save money. |

rear quarter panel will need to be cut/welded/painted. New rear bumper cover. Rear tail-light, plastic pieces underneath, brackets, etc.
Lots of labor too. You'll be looking at about $3-5k in total damages to the car depending on how much they charge for labor. Make sure you claim diminished value if your state allows it. Should be able to get at least another 2-3k in dv (that's a check cut directly to you from their insurance company). Their insurance should cover every and any upgrades you put on your car. It's their fault, so they will have to replace exactly what they broke. BTW, stock rear tail is about $250 each.
