I went with the 235's. I looked at the 245's but my research showed the 235 would have a larger contact patch in my specific application, plus the slightly taller gearing can't hurt that much with the blower.

I doubt I could do the same amount on the RE-71 tho. They are basically liek r-comps, and they wear out so fast... In fact, there are some reviews out there that show it to be better performing than some lower quality r-comps. They were generous with the 200TW rating and just slapped it on there for it to be legal in competitions. I could get 30k miles out of the RE-11 if I wanted to, but my state inspection is due so I'm changing them now. T_T Getting a full set of tires every 15k miles does not sound too good for what I am using them for. Just my humble honest opinion. Different tires for different applications. Sounds like you will heat cycle your re-11s out before they run out of tread. But with minimal track use, that isn't the biggest deal. FWIW: My RE17r have about 3k in street driving, 14 autox events, and 5.75 track days. They are about 1/2 tread. I probably will kill them off by July this year as I'll have 9 HPDE days before mid july. |

I drove my 235 RE71's on the chords for about a month, (when there was no snow/and just light rain), lasted quite a while like that....your common sense / state inspections may vary.
Honestly, the set of 235 RE71R's that I bought was the LONGEST LASTING 200TW TIRE I HAVE BOUGHT FOR THE FR-S. These tires actually lasted significantly longer than the BFG Rivals and Dunlop ZII's that I've had multiple sets of. Highway driving and autoX every weekend. The First few 32nds of tread on the Bridgestones wears away very, very fast. It makes you think the tires the are going to wear away to nothing in one month, but then it stabilizes, and they remain at the same tread depth for a very, very long time. I don't think the AUTOCROSS life on these tires, while mixed with highway driving is any less than the other tires. This is likely because I was sliding around so much on the Rivals, resulting in faster wear....but if you're driving the car HARD, and not pus5y-footing it on course, your wear of RE71R's should actually be quite good. They still have grip on the chords, but the fresh set of 225's that I just put on is definitely a lot better. If you're driving slow as shit on course, and like an old man on the street...well you should have bought harder tires to start with anyway.

Having a set of dedicated track wheel/tire is hugely beneficial if you do any amount of regular tracking.

Agreed I have 17x9 RPF1s for Track/Autox - 245 RE71 17x9 Rotas for Street wheels - 255 Mix RE11 and Z2 Stock Wheels for long distance driving - Pruis Tires I see about a 4-5 MPG difference on the oem tires, on E85 on highway trips. So I will often travel on them. |

For those of you with RE-71R's, what kind of camber are you running? I seem to remember reading somewhere they needed less camber than the RS3's.

You'll have to ask the STX guys because in C-Street we're limited to whatever we can get.
