Just got my letter, damnit, but I am at 150k now so I'm wondering if it's truly needed. Very hesitant about letting some 9-5 monkey at a dealership take my engine apart. Are any others planning on winging it and not having it done? If my motor blows, so be it, I will then replace it and add a turbo kit that I am itching for. My only worry is safety.

But the extended warranty is just on what they did, nothing else, correct?

I drive 2 hours a day (100 miles total) 5 days a week since getting the car in May 2013. I'm now inching towards 150k miles. Hoping I have some solid valve springs. |

If it hasn't gone by now it probably won't. If the limited info we have is to be believed the reported failures were all on very low mileage cars. The majority would also appear to be on the other models which are not as likely to be driven as hard.

That is where my head is at with it, it's not a guarantee that everyone on the list has a faulty valve spring(s), Subaru is just covering all possibilities. |

Also remember that recalls never expire. As in never. I’ve done a handful of recalls on cars from the 70s in the past few years.
So let it roll. If you have a problem down the line, take it in and it will be fixed under the recall. Unless you state holds your registration hostage with an open recall, only California I believe? |

One week in with the repair, not a single drop of oil leaked and the engine is running strong.
On the flip side since I was watching it, I discovered MomHawk's Mustang has an oil leak we'll have to get fixed. I hadn't caught it because her car is usually always in the garage when I'm home.
