Ya but if you squashed those sedans down to the same height they would all fit right in with the rest.

The ass end is even worse, and you see it on the Supra.

Looks like Toyota could have had a Supra that carried on the legacy.

The only way that could look more like a rat is if Toyota had put whiskers around the nose. |

there was some article/comment i read somewhere about exactly that point that a non-permeable grille is actually better for fuel economy. it's exactly why many cars now have active shutters in the front end.

From what I read today, the numbers on the new Supra 3L single turbo sound fairly impressive for what it is (thank you BMW), and the instrument / dash was mainly dreamt up by BMW. The video by Shimee (that tool, I bet someone has to be paying that young chap to be producing videos on his vehicle reviews, telling him to say certain things on those videos … does he really own a car? Who knows).
I was comparing the new Supra to a Nismo 370z. The Supra is about 100-150 lighter then the Nismo, and has about 90 more torque!! Nismo is offered in a manual, where as the Supra is not. Nismo is probably about $5k less monies. The negatives that I see with the new Supra are 1. no manual option (if that's what you want). 2. Exterior design , if you're not digging it . You know what they say about beauty. 3. It's part Toyota , part BMW. 4. Turbo, more maintenance involved with that engine , but hey many new owners will enjoy it for the first 2-4 years, then sell/trade it in for something else ( let 2nd- 3rd owner deal with the maintenance later). I'd like to see a full fledged 100% Toyota sports car, 4cyl or V8. The other part of this is once the 86 dies ( 1-3 years from now most likely) , is when Toyota will start to introduce a 4cyl Supra ( 2 variants) most likely. It's a BMW 4cyl engine/turbo. They are offering the 4cyl in other countries, but not US yet ( plus with EPA wanting car manufactures to get more MPG efficient, that'll come later with Supra). At least that's what I read , but would make sense once the 86 is out of the picture. Even still, we're talking 2022 - 2023 at earliest , and by then the Supra 3L will probably be a bit more money $52-54k starting , who knows how much a 4cyl turbo Supra will be ? At least $42-45k. Manual option 4cyl turbo when offered?…. would be nice …. Something to think about. *Yes, a closed off front bumper is more aero, the kicker is you need some vents/openings for the radiator for cooling. Some Scion xB / xA owners have mostly sealed that off for Winter driving , but then for Spring/summer they'll take out the filler in the openings since they don't want their engines over heating in the dead of summer.

Most of all though? I love shifting, feeling the couch release as I start, popping it in neutral while waiting at a red light, downshifting into a turn or going up a hill, putting it in 6th as I cruise home from a long day, etc. I love everything about it and nothing you or anyone else says will ever change that. It's a fact they're dying. Look around and get your head out of the sand. More manuals die everyday and when they're gone, what then? What's left for those of us who don't need or want 1000 buttons, beeps or nanny, handholding assists that give Sara another reason to not look while merging, backing up or taking some initiative behind her 3,500 pound death machine? Maybe you live in a rural area but in my metro area it is quite terrifying to see just how ignorant folks are on the road. Cell phones, makeup, freaking YouTube videos, etc. So yeah...I enjoy the hell out of my simple, lightweight, driver focused, MANUAL cars. I just wish others paid half as much attention so that driving wasn't the #1 cause of death. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk |

The auto-blip downshift was great fun, I might go so far as to say "involving", and mine had a second pedal, a brake, which took some skill to use. In fact, it was pretty much the same as an MT when it came to making decisions and acting on them. You know, being a "driver". If you think an automatic with paddles and rev-matcing is the same as driving an actual manual then we'll just disagree there. As for the nannies...no cruise matching, auto parking, lane assist, etc in my cars and I prefer it that way. The type of nannies where it practically begs fools to stop paying attention then get mad when they rear end you. Backup cameras and blind spot monitoring are good things BUT folks blindly rely on them way too much these days. There is no replacement for physically turning to look and being aware of your surroundings. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk |
