DS is a spec 2015+ WRX class and was poorly attended except at Nationals. The ND Miata should be top CS dog after another year of development and revised transmissions that don't come apart.
They have excellent bottom end pull.

I will predict the new 86 will not be much different in performance autocross wise to the 13-16 cars with the shorter gearing (more 2-3-2 shifts) on longer national type courses.

I think the classing changes will even out attendance numbers in CS and DS...

So is anyone actually planning on staying in CS with a TRD car?

Or is everyone jumping to DS?

Or jumping to DS and trading in for turbo Camaros? lol

I don't think I can call it "staying" since I just got the car and prepped it, but I'm going to at least charge windmills in CS at Dixie.

With the incentives that GM runs on them (not seeming to be a desirable car to the public), I actually plan to check one out. Jalopnik ran an article last week about how they're advertised for out-the-door less than $20k brand new. The blind spots are soooo bad though.

I'm undecided on CS or DS. I never got the TRD bars and MCS shocks and part of me wants to see how the car feels "fully prepped for CS." However, our car still seems like the easy button for DS if I put the springs back on it. As much as I like the look of my car lowered, I think it's a no-brainer to raise it up and run DS if I want to be competitive.

That article is what got me thinking about them too!

After having a '16 SS as a rental for three days in Nashville, I might have some trouble driving a Camaro without the insane power/torque and noise though. lol

Yeah, I'm currently moving from a very mild STX prep back to Street and I'm thinking DS will be the way to go. If all the CS Twins in Chicago Region switch to DS it'll make the two classes about even in terms of participation (not adding in NDs, Camaros and Ecoboosts). But our CS is a really competitive and fun group in Chicago, so we'll see.

After some careful consideration I've decided to try next season in CS. Soo if anyone is looking to switch to DS and get rid of their TRD parts...

Has anyone looked into whether the 7.5" TRD wheels will be legal (port/factory installed) for the 17+ models? Or does anyone have thoughts on how beneficial they would be for increased lateral traction especially if stuffing a 245 tire on becomes more viable?

The 2017 BRZ with PP comes with 7.5 inch wide wheels.

I'll probably move to DS and remove the TRD parts if it passes. As far as I'm concerned the ND Miata, the addition of the 2017 FRS/BRZ and the move of the Porsche Boxster from BS to CS has clinched the deal.

Let me know when you let go of those TRD parts

Looking at Toyota's website, all three have the same note. I could see the wheels being legal.

So I guess that a fully TRD equipped 2017 86 would have an advantage over a 2017 BRZ with performance package. Assuming both can have the 7.5in wide wheels.
