We are not the first to attempt an intake manifold, and I know a few have tried after us. She is not simple. I'm not convinced that ITBs will generate a large improvement in the powerband either yet.

We even ran the OE manifold and our manifolds on a flow bench with various bell horns, runner lengths, and overall designs trying to figure out where our unit was not flowing as well with confusing results to say the least.

I hope someone figures out an improved unit in the end though. I'd like to learn where we went wrong for future projects. Again, my hats off to the OE engineers on this one.

Thanks,
Eric

Are these designs similar to Porsche's expansion intake manifolds?
Stuff like this? https://www.gtisoft.com/wp-content/u...compressed.pdf

3) maybe it's not just about shape, but also different inner surface finish?
1) Correct

2) We tuned all setups using EcuTek on both NA and Turbo platforms

3) The inner surface finish would have minimal impact.

We were not designing these after the Porsche expansion intake manifold. We designed them to flow more; which they ultimately did in both CFD and the flow bench (yes we took these to a flow bench as well as an OE manifold). We obviously are missing an important part of the equation. We have ideas of what we'd try next but currently, we have bigger fish to fry and prototyping the intake manifold is extremely expensive.

Thanks,
Eric

Thanks for the details!
Big fan of your work, hopefully you guys will get around to seeing if there are any notable benefits with that kind of a design or your current designs ~
