When I was 4, my mom crashed our car into a guy who spun out in front of us. He was drunk, racing, ran a stop sign, and was on a multiple times suspended license. We were in a VW bug and I was thrown forward by the weight of our dog behind me and hit my head on the metal glove box door, which had come open. I had to relearn how to walk, it was like I went back to being a toddler. I also have zero memories of my life around/before that time - not that people usually remember a lot from that young, but I literally have zero.

This was 40 years ago and the judge told my parents that he would throw the book at the guy, but that he would soon after be back out and do it again until he killed someone.

Which is exactly what happened.

Unfortunately laws are more stringent on people who smoke a recreational drug (that harms nobody else but themself) than they are on multiple time offending drunk drivers.

I did that for about a half a mile with a dude sitting on another dude in the front - it was hilarious to see and i also didn't go over 25mph - first and last time i'll ever put 5 people in my car

This kid probably doesn't even speed on his own and was just trying to be a show off..what a shame

@thill - in NY if you get a 2nd dui within 10 years of your last one it's a felony...but for the most part you're completely right :/

Instead of being over judgmental on other people's lives, why not just wish the deceased to rest in peace and the injured a speedy recovery?

Interesting thought process. So let's assume, for whatever reasons you are getting a ride from a family member without knowing he's drink driving, that driver drank 2 bottles of Macallan but doesn't feel a pinch, talks sane and doesn't have a red face; but suddenly dozed off and slammed into a tree while driving.. based on your statement "I wish everyone who drinks and drives would kill their loved ones in the resulting accident.", you truly well deserved to be killed "since the drunk driver ALMOST NEVER dies"?
